I think my Doctor's scale is wrong

Recommended Posts

I went to my doctor today for my second appointment for my 6 month doctor supervised diet and according to the scale I lost 16 pounds in a month. When I started with all the doctors appointments I weighed 368 pounds and now according to the scale I weigh 327. When I mentioned to my doctor that I had a scale at home that the max weight was 330 and I get an error message on that when I get on it at home, she said that the scale might be 5-7 pounds off which would put me at 332-334 approximately. Which I still have a hard time believing especially since my clothes don't fit any differently at this point. I had talked to my mom earlier and told her what happened at the doctor and she was like thats good that you are losing and I told her its not the losing that is the major issue its the keeping it off..Sorry this is just my vent for the day...

Hey that is great! Lose is lose! cool if it is 16 lbs in a month. I am the same way....I lose weight quickly up to about 75 lbs but I always gain it back plus a little more for what ever reason it is......

I think suddenly your clothes will fit you totally different and it is possible that at that time you won't have lost near as much. I think the body just has to catch up and go....oh yeah..smaller.

Good for you!

Yeah I know what you mean...I would have to agree with maidmarion, your body just needs time to adjust to the weight loss and then you may see changes. Although I was in denial for a long time thinking I wore a size 26, until one day they were so tight I couldn't breath. I went strait out to get a new pair of pants and couldn't even fit into a Lane Bryant 28. I still have yet to find a comfortable pair of jeans. I know I have a ways to go until I can again fit into a 26. but lucky for me I won't have to buy any clothes I have lots of clothes left from that time in my life, LOL and they are back instyle, eh. sweats and jammas until then. ha.

Good Luck with your weight loss!!! and also know that you scale may be inaccurate and DRs. scale correct. I'd rather go by my docs scale if the number looks better.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
