JENNIFER: HOORAY!!!!

She's gonna be banded. You're gonna love it. (OK say that with the best impression of Sandra Bullock in Miss Congeniality) LOL!!

I am almost a year out and it has so changed my life. I have loads more energy. I try things I normally wouldn't do. I just did the 5K marathon here in Los Angeles last weekend. I would NOT have done that a year ago. I might have watched it from home on the TV but certainly not participated. I did not run it mind you but walked it. Out of 4000 I was ranked 1929. WHOO HOO!!!

You are doing the best thing for you.

OK SO, tell us about your self. Age, weight, height, how much you wanna lose. You know all the good stuff. LOL!! Inquiring minds and all that stuff.

Jennifer, I think the band was one of the best things I could ever do for myself. I'm still kind of new (banded 1-3-05) so I am still in the adjustment stage. I actually had my second fill on yesterday because I wasn't tight enough to restrict my eating. However, I can only say good things about my band. The 20+ lbs I lost pre-op have not returned and I know I am on my way to success. I think you're making a good choice getting the band. All the best to you!!!

I moved this thread from the "Suggestions" board so more people will see it.

Jennifer, congratulations on your banding date! To get some positive feedback look through the Before and After pictures thread, or the one on Total Weight lost by LBTers. That will give you all the positive feedback you need. ;)

Seriously, I've been banded going on 19 months and I have not regretted it for one millisecond. I'm by no means thin, but I'm 100 lbs smaller than I used to be and it has given me a new lease on life. Every day is improved by being smaller, more flexible, more energetic, faster, etc., etc., etc. I LOVE MY BAND. :)

I was banded last September and have not had any complications. I don't regret it one bit. My biggest issue right now is learning how to accept all compliments I'm getting about how great I'm looking now that I'm down nearly 50 lbs and from a tight size 24 to a loose 18!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
