Going Crazy!

Recommended Posts

My mind is taking over. I am 4 weeks banded and up until this week have been feeling great. I am now sick each day. I am starting to think my band has slipped. I go back to the doc this Thurs(11). Can anyone discribe to me what the symptoms are for slippage. I gag terriably about an hr after each meal. Have not actually thrown up. PLEASE HELP!!!!!:think

Yikes, Laura, that's scary! Did you change anything about your diet this week--like did you just start solids or something?

If you're gagging long after your meal is finished you may be having esophageal spasms. I think slippage is characterized by actual pain, either in the stomach or esophagus. At least, that's been present in the stories I've read. A complete inability to eat or drink at all is also a sign of real trouble.

Please call your doctor tomorrow and let us know what's going on. I'll be thinking of you, fellow Jersey-ite!!

Alexendra, Thanks for your kind words. Yes! actually I did start on some solids like chopped Pasta , small pieces of chicken and veggies & tater tot like potato, but this is the deit my doctor has perscribe for my 5th week. I hope it's just the food and not something more serious.

Laura,

Every item you described to be eatting are things that make me stuck. Especially if the chicken is breast and dry, and any type of potato.

Some veggies make me stuck and definetly I can't eat pasta!

Try going back on liquids/mushy foods for a few days to let your tummy rest and then reintroduce those foods at a later time.

It may just be that your still really swollen, and you need to take it slower.

Good luck, and do have your doctor take a look at you.

Laura, have you noticed any improvement today? Good luck with your appointment on Thursday - hope the doc can help you figure out what's going on!

Actually I had to go the doc on Monday, I just could not take it anymore. He told me he thinks I am ready for my fill, witch he has scheduled for the 18. He thinks what was happening is I was eating until I was full and this may have been to much. So now I am just eating very small portions then walking away. This has worked until last night.. I was on my way home from work and was on the bus and there it came they wave. They only thing I could figure out that made me sick was a fatfree pudding that I had an hr prior. I just don't know! Hopefully the fill will make this better. I just hope so cause I get so ill I wind up in tears. My Fiance has been wonderful. Then the mind kicks in that maybe this is not going to work for me. I am trying to stay positive and just go with it until my fill. Thanks all for the concern.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
