Happy Anniversary jbnwilds!!!!

Recommended Posts

Oh my goodness! You guys are so sweet! We just returned to reality (dirty laundry, noisy children, hungry pets) from our wonderful weekend at a log cabin in southern Indiana. I was so touched that my double V friends posted a thread just for me! It was a beautiful time for us to re-connect as a couple! Some band-related highlights of our anniversary trip....

Good - I not only loved my new clothes, but bought lots more 1X size clothes when we hit the outlet mall on the way home.

Bad - I probably had more treats than necessary (mostly in the form of coffee with French vanilla Creamer)

Good - I got lots of exercise :)

Bad - First experience of getting something "stuck" since banding. Note to self - band does not like leftover grilled tilapia for Breakfast - too tight still. Luckily, a few sips of Water got it down, but boy did it HURT until it went down.

Good - Who knew that Gap, Eddie Bauer and Old Navy all sell up to size 18 (my current top size) and 20 (current bottom size)? Lane Bryant - I'm afraid I'm going to have to take my business elsewhere!!

Bad - The experience of trying to fit into size 18 jeans in Eddie Bauer fitting room. :sneaky:

Good - Walked through little shops and studios in Nashville IN for 4 hours straight - knees didn't hurt, no asthma, didn't get tired at all.

Bad - Spent more time in cabin's hot tub than hiking in woods like planned. :o

Good - There was no scale there, so I didn't have to worry about weigh-ins.

Bad - There was no scale there, so tomorrow I have to find out how I did!!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
