In 05 Lost 105lb 18W- size 4, then pregnancy up to 207, 6 mnths post still at 167lbs

Recommended Posts

After 2 years post surgery ( from 18W to a size 4) I lost 120 lbs. then last year got pregnant; start pregnancy weight was 137...ballooned up to 207 upon delivery and now 6 months later post pregnancy-and one fill ( was completely deflated during pregnancy) I have gone down to 167 lbs...I vomit 6-8 times per week:thumbdown:, and can not tolerate much of anything...Looks like band slipage maybe to blame...Having a miserable time trying to eat, I mostly don't eat...but I desperately want to get back to a size 6 ...Any good sugestions?

Get to your doctor immediately to see if you have a slip.. that would be step 1!

Definitely go to your doctor and see if the band has slipped. I see from some people's siggies that even if you do have slippage you might be able to get rebanded and back on track a few months after removal.

I hope it turns out to not be a slip!

(and congratulations on the baby!!)

Your band might just be too tight (which can eventually lead to a slip) so just go see the Dr.

So many people are anxious to lose weight and they think having an overtight band will do that.... it doesn't. You need just the right restriction to eat healthy SOLID Protein. That's what will keep you satisfied and you will avoid "slider foods" that go down easy. Then you'll lose weight.

Thank you Molly; I had great success with the band for 2 years prior to the baby, believe me I was so happy being a size 4 (from a 18W). However it is now that I have the non-passing food issue, and the reflux and all these other issues, I frankly thought...I might as well go get it even tigher and eat even less...then I will loose even more...believe me over these 3 years I have gotten to be an expert on this band thing...but since the pregnancy...something is definetely not right....

True, I used to weigh 268 and then got down to 180 (that is when I got pregnant) I gained 40 baby lbs and now weigh 185, the band doesn't restrict anything anymore. I am eating like before, breads and stuff.... I don't want to get it tightened up again, since when I did I threw up and I hated seeing my baby crying next to me. I don't want to put her through that.. Now (just today) I started a diet, Gosh.. I hope it works!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
