The noodle diet sounds great to me, but I doubt anyone else will agree. Noodles are carbohydrates, which convert to sugar. The world is tied up in this huge carb craze right now, so most people will tell you to avoid carbs. Your doctor might want you to stick with lean Proteins (chicken, fish, cottage cheese) and lots of fresh veggies and fruits.

Noodles by themself aren't that fattening, but they also don't contain much (if any) nutrition. But add butter or olive oil and you've created a diet disaster! Small portions will never hurt you, but you'll be better off getting in good nutrition if you want to lose weight.

You're going to get 100 different opinions here, so you might want to discuss it with a nutritionalist since each one of us has different tastes, needs, requirements, etc. Diabetics can't follow the same programs as pregnant women, for example. Good luck to you.

I agree 100% with DeLarla!!! Good luck and don't be afraid to discuss this with your doctor.

Wow, nobody's ever agreed 100% with me! Obviously, diets like Weight Watchers are the healthiest since you'll get a wide variety of foods, which give you a good range of nutrients. I like to think the healthiest way to eat is how the world ate before fast food restaurants came around. Things that grow out of the ground, things that swim, things that you gotta hunt, and things that you pick off trees. Nobody was fat back then.

I've never even heard of an all-noodle diet. Sounds like a no-win plan to me. (Or should I say, no-lose?)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
