If you do a search for PB, you will get multiple variations of a similar answer. But essentially it stands for Productive Burping. It happens when you eat something that doesn't pass through your stoma and it gets stuck. Many people experience sliming, which is when you get a lot of saliva built up in your mouth and cannot swallow it.

PBs have different effects on different people. For many of them they get the feeling that they have a "golfball" stuck in their esophagus, or they have a feeling of pressure and/or pain in their chest. Often just bending over will cause the stuck food to come back up. The one time it happened to me, there was a burping sound before it came out.

It's a reminder, at least in my opinion, to chew slowly, eat smaller bites and be careful with certain foods that are more likely to get stuck. It's why some people avoid certain foods completely. Everybody is different.

Good luck!

Yeah, it's burping.

I've not ever experienced this though. I know babies do it...and my mom- elderly. My kids even do it- irritating.

But if you feel the need to burp, do it!

While I've not ever pb'd...I have slimed. Some hate it while I don't mind it a bit.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
