I Want to CHEAT and Think I Will

Recommended Posts

Ok here is my opion for what it is worth. My Dr never had me on a pre-op diet. My starting BMI was 45 and I had no complacations and I was done

laproscopicly. But I don think you should always follow you Dr's instructions. If you do eat the steak it may or may not interfere with your surgery only you can decide if you want to take that chance. Good Luck to you and I hope all goes well.

Tom...happy to hear you lost 3lbs and decided against the steak. Hang in there, Bud! Not only are you shrinking your liver in prep for surgery, you are preparing yourself to be strong after your surgery and the liquids for awhile. What pushed me over the edge to have this surgery was lab reports of an extremely fatty liver. I want to be around for my grandkids (If my sons would get off their asses and produce some).

My surgeon didnt put me on a liquid diet pre-op. I was on a high Protein diet which was meat and veggies. This diet was to shrink my liver. I was just on liquids after surgery. Every surgeon is different though. If you are going to do it...the sooner the better.

Good job Tom. If you need help again, you can count on us. This won't be the only time you will face temptation and each time you learn to "just say no" will teach you something about your self and your relationship with food.

Some of those times, food might win and sometimes it won't, but this time it was important for food NOT to win.

Way to go!:grouphug:

have you really gone through all this to fail now...get over yourself! do anything but that. Go with the AA thing and just dont do it for the next 10 minutes...and another 10 ...and another 10... cut the self sabotage or forget about the surgery!

Again, all thanks for your support. Another day almost over and another day of liquids accomplished. Think I'm going to reward myself with a sugarfree pineapply flavor popsicle! March 18th is Band Day - getting jazzed and glad I did have that steak! (well, not glad, but, made the right choice!)

When those cravings hit---you did the right thing---come to people who have been there before! I used to come here, vent, and then cruise the before and after pics, until I got it back in my head what I was doing this for!!! I don't know how people do this without LBT!!!

Good job.....keep up the good work!

I would cause you know why you sure won't have it for a couple of months maybe never again. That was my last meal just don't cook it cause it might burn and then it wouldn't even be worth it.

pat on the back to you...reward yourself...here are suggestions!

Anything but food, take a long drive to somewhere beautiful and think....

sleep in, take a real long bath, buy some new music, get a pet, do some gardening, fly a kite or model airplane, paint, draw, go to a shooting range and plunk away, get a massage, clean your office, go rock hunting. carve a piece of driftwood, spend all day in a bookstore, go buy a jaunty hat......whatever floats your boat...just get off the couch and away from food thoughts....non food rewards yuhah

go for it handsome!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
