Fill Dates - How many weeks for you?

Recommended Posts

Ok, just curious here. I know doctors do things differently, but I just wanted to see what is common here among us Victorious Valentines.

So - did you have your first fill (or will have your first fill) 4, 5, or 6 weeks after surgery? (or other?)

Thanks all!

Right now it will be 8. It would have been 6 but my Surgeon decided to go on vacation. I begged him to do a fill which would have been about 5 weeks, but he said NO WAY!! He said it would be too soon.

My doctor does adjustments every 4-6 weeks if you need them - my first fill was 4 weeks to the day after surgery.

4 weeks post op, next one is in three weeks. I guess he does them about every four weeks. I really empathize with you who are having to wait 8 weeks. That just seems to be so long! :grouphug:

I am going in today. I will be three weeks post tomorrow. I am SO hungry and am eating SO much more so the nurse said it is probably time for a fill. I am reading and it seems this is REALLY early compared to most.

I was satisfied on 1000 calories up until this week and I have been eating 1200-1500 calories a day since. Just so you know, I am eating quality calories. this is what I had yesterday

2 peices of light toast and a tbsp of Peanut Butter 140cal

granola bar 180 cal

8 saltine crackers and 1/2 container of creamy Tomato Soup approx 225 cals

2 peices of light bread 1 tbsp of PB and jelly 220 cals

lean pork chop and broccoli 200 cals

bowl of bran flakes with ff milk 300 cal

about 1300 calories total. I ONLY ate when I was TRULY hungry.

What is the deal??? Will a fill help me??

Nope.

(Man I really feel like the carb nazi on this forum)

Go to FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal and log in what you have listed above, then tell me how many carbs you have consumed. I'm betting you are WELL over 200. Bread, milk, crackers, Peanut Butter, jelly, Cereal, and granola bars are LOADED with carbs. What is wrong with carbs? They make you HUNGRY!!!!! (not to mention they make you fat) The more carbs you consume the more they make you crave more and stimulate your hunger. The best thing you ate was the pork chop and broccoli.

So humor me. Count up the carbs.

Then, spend some time eating Protein and eating less than 30 gms of carbs a day excluding green leafy vegetables and (after going through carb withdrawal) let me know how you feel. If it doesn't work, then go back to what you were doing before, but I'll bet dollars to donuts that it will. Be forewarned though, you will feel like crap for a few days. Fatigue, headaches and nausea are just some of the symptoms of carb withdrawal. Your body literally goes through physical and mental withdrawal.

I actually made this transition before surgery and was absolutely amazed at how much my hunger diminished.

My surgery was 2/27/08 and my fill isn't until 4/17, but I dont mind.

I thought mine was 4/16, but it's 4/17. Looks like we're getting filled the same day! I don't mind either. I do still have restriction, although less than I had in the beginning.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
