Gall Bladder Removal after significant weight loss

Recommended Posts

Hi:

Has anybody had their gall bladder removed recently? I just found out that I have gall stones and doctor said it's gotta go. If you've had gall bladder removed after your band, please tell me what it's like. Does it effect your band? Is it as easy as band surgery? I had big issues with nausea after band surgery first 12 hours. Did you have nausea issues after gall bladder removal?

Thanks.

Sue

My doc found gallstones during testing for the band. I had mine out one month prior to the band. I did not find it as difficult to recover from. I had less pain than from the band. I was also very glad to have it out. My father-in-law and a friends son both almost died from complications from gallstones. I was almost running to the o.r. Hope this is helpful.

I had my removed 6 month prior to the band. It was a complication after pregnancy. Mine was removed laprioscopic (similar procedure as the band). No pain, no lifting anything over 5 pound for awhile. Felt much better with it out.

I had mine out in January, no band yet. I think you having a band and a restricted diet will make it easier on you. I've read about a lot of people havinng issues with consitpation, the runs, sudden need and so forth after they have thier g/b's out, but it seems they have a horrible diet and having the surgery didn't change that.

I just had band surgery, but didnt get the band ( odd huh?), but I found the unband surgery to be much, much easier to recover from. The g/b surgery was rough in that movement made the area very sore. The port, and I'm not sure, may make it more difficult. The good news is, they give you excellent meds. I had morphine and fetanyl in the hospital and vicodin when they sent me home. ( The next day.) In contrast my unband surgery has only required Tylenol. Though...I was prescribed Lortab for the actual banding. It's still sitting there waiting for my next surgery.

Good luck, stay away from fatty foods, expect a good week to really start moving around easily, but keep moving because you will improve dramatically each day becuase of it.

I personally don't have any complications with bowels, diet, and so on from a gallbladder diet. carbs and sat fat requirement were just the same as the bandster diet.

My experiences were postive and painless to date. The important part is to get up and walk - just like when you got your band. In fact to think back... I walked and had a bruise from the instruments.

Had my gall bladder removed at the bottom of one of my yo-yo dieting periods. Think I was around 140lbs...back 10 years ago or so.

Yep, significant weightloss can cause your gallbladder to go wack.

I don't remember any issues after it was removed.

I had my gallbladder out after about a year of banding. Was glad to see it go, the recovery was a lot easier than banding. I didn't have to change my diet after it came out. Good luck.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
