Do I need a Fill?

Recommended Posts

So I can't have anything but liquid for Breakfast, I eat usually 4-5oz of meat and 1/4c of smashed califlower or something like that for lunch, and for supper I can eat a regular small meal. Like last night I had half of a small butternut squash (not quite half) and about 1 cup of smashed cauliflower....Is this more than most of you eat in a day or about right? I feel like it should tighter, but I don't want to mess with it if It's right? How much to you guys consume at a time.:confused2:

My opinion is that you do not need a fill. My reason for this is that you can't eat solids in the morning. If you get any tighter you may not be able to even drink in the morning and may not be able to eat at lunch. It is a personal decision and I prefer to eat solid food. Are you losing weight? How long after a meal before you are hungry?

I can eat solid food pretty much all day but I am not hungry for 4-6 hours after I eat. Small portions fill me up. I am losing 1-2 pounds per week and I am happy with that.

You may still have some swelling from surgery, it's hard to say if you'll need a fill once you get 4-6 weeks out or however long your doctor requires.

Are you sure it's OK for you to be eating meat only 2 weeks post-op?? That's unusual!

Your doctor should have told you when to come in for your first fill. It's usually no sooner than 4-6 weeks.

I can only eat about 3/4c. of food at a time... and if I'm eating meat, it's usually only a couple of ounces. I'm very tight right now.

I puree it.

I just wasn't sure. Thank you all for your comments. I go to the Dr today and I am not sure what the appointment is about, when they told me I was still in the hospital so I was kind of out of it, I just remember the date because I wrote it down. I have lost about 20lbs, I will find out for sure at 10:15 today, I dont trust my scale.

I am losing. I have another doctors appt. April 17th, so If I haven't lost anymore weight by then well I will fill it and if not, why mess with something that is working. I guess the volume of food is not as important as the results peroid. If I can eat more and still lose weight I will continue until I need to change it.

Thank you everyone for you help. The Doctors appt today was just to check my scars and talk about food.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
