Any "Last meals?"

Recommended Posts

I thought I was going to do a "one last meal" thing but it's turning into a "one last WEEK" of feasting. I start my liquid 3.5 week diet on Saturday so today at work, everyone ordered pizza so I'm partaking. Tomorrow night, the girls from my "Motherless Daughters" group are coming over and we each a sharing our favorite bottle of wine, a movie and a snack: chips/dip, brownies and ice cream. Oy, I'm looking forward to 3 1/2 weeks of nothing but liquid diet. lol

Yep. Went to NYC Chinatown to the Peking Duck House. Had some amazing Peking Duck. Nom nom nom!! Tomorrow, I'm going for my all time fave pancakes before I start the two week liquid pre-op diet.

Technically I know I could probably eat duck again but without the wrapper. The pancakes, I'm not so sure about, so definitely want to get them in!

I had a MONTH of eating like crazy, but my very last meal before my preop diet was a trip to Fudruckers and I ate a huge burger, chili cheese fries, AND I helped my boyfriend finish off a chili dog.

I had a rib steak, which I prefer medium-rare. My husband, bless his heart, didn't watch it carefully and made it well done -- which kind of ruined it for me. Still, it's not as if I haven't eaten a zillion steaks before, so at least I have the memory of some cooked the right way!

The Yukon Gold baked potato that I had with it was divine, though.

I went to my favorite Mexican restaurant and had tacos and enchiladas, since tacos might be a tough item to eat once I had the surgery! It was the best.

16 pounds down since my pre-op date of April 3rd, 13 pounds since my surgery on April 7th. Im happy to say it will be worth it!

I had a last couple 'weeks' instead of a last meal. It was a long, sweet, FULL couple weeks. I think I might have pulled a muscle in my stomach because it huuuuuurt from eating so much. Can't believe I admitted that....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
