Help - port pressure and pain

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I havent ever posted before apart from my introduction but love this site and read it regularly.

Today I'm writing cos I would love some help. I have the most terrible abdominal cramps over my port. Thought it might have been dreaded consitpation but now think it may be related to the clothes I was wearing - pantyhose rested on my port??!! I have to wear suits and pantyhose every day for my job so this little scenario is kind of unavoidable. Has anyone else had this problem??? Port is located on the left hand side, right where the waitband of trousers etc is. Any ideas?? I should add that my clothes aren't super tight now but everything has a waistband and this seems to be causing some drama.

Thanks so much!

Pen.

Hi Pen,

Somehow I don't think abdominal cramps can be related to your pantyhose, especially since you've presumably been wearing them all along. Did this just start now? Sounds to me like there is something else going on and perhaps the pantyhose is just irritating it so you're more aware of it.

Have you pulled a muscle through exercise? Or maybe it is gas or Constipation. You've been banded long enough so you know what things are supposed to feel like. Call your doctor if you're worried!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
