Hazel-eyes 0 Posted March 12, 2008 Is there any reason why my surgery would be cancelled if I have a cold??? I do have 2 days to go but right now I have a sore throat and stuffy nose! I am very worried....
losingjusme 12 Posted March 12, 2008 not sure, maybe call your surgeon's office and ask them. Hope you are feeling better soon.
Hazel-eyes 0 Posted March 12, 2008 I called and they said that if I am not 100% better by tomorrow..I will be cancelled.:huh2: I will be crushed if I am cancelled at this point..I have planned this out to fall right before my spring break from graduate school. Anyone have any good cold remedies??:cool2::sad:
girlie2shooz 0 Posted March 12, 2008 i also had a cold 2 days out from surgery, actually when i went to my preop meeting 1 week prior also. i still had a stuffy nose and cough when i had surgery. i had a chest xray with preop and my lungs were fine so the head cold evidently didn't matter. the best part.......all the antibiotics they give you for surgery, cleared up my head and cough. sooooooooooo, see how you feel. g2s
socalgal3 4 Posted March 12, 2008 Take some Airborne every 3 hours and suck on Cold Eeze. Drink lots of fluids, rest and take Vitamins. You can even try grapefruit seed extract mixed into juice(it is SUPER bitter). Get well soon!
Bandme08 0 Posted March 12, 2008 try Zicam- it will shorten the severity and duration of a cold by a few days- my father swears by it- it comes in nasal spray, nasal swab, quick melt sheets, etc- over the counter at any grocery store or pharm. Good luck!
losingjusme 12 Posted March 12, 2008 i dunno about airborne anymore, there's a huge class action lawsuit out there. the cold eeze is great and take 2 vit C tabs (500mg each)... that helped me before my plastics.
Caterpillarfly 0 Posted March 13, 2008 My favorite is "No Time For Colds." It's in the same section as the Airborne and Zicam and it's in a blue box with big yellow letters. It always works for me!
chica 2 Posted March 13, 2008 Hazel-eyes, See my post about Help Please! Don't want my surgery cancelled. They can deal with this. I think it's going to be okay, just be sure to let them know how you're feeling. Plus, maybe you'll be better by tomorrow. No point in not using the power of positive thinking!
Bandme08 0 Posted March 13, 2008 Hael-eyes, How are you today??? I hope you are much better! There is so much going around right now... Feel better!
Hazel-eyes 0 Posted March 13, 2008 Thanks for all of the great suggestions! I am feeling a good deal better today and I think that I will be ok for tomorrow. I took some airborne yesterday and Vitamin c...that's all I had in the house (i know airborne is now said to be a scam). I drank tons of Water and green tea. Today I went out and bought the Zicam as Bandme08 suggested. I think if I get some rest today I will be fine. I love this forum....always someone here to help out! Thanks a lot and I'll see you in bandland tomorrow!

Hazel-eyes 0 Posted March 16, 2008 Well, I made it! I am officially banded. I did still have a stuffy nose and post-nasal drip during surgery and they said they gave me something to dry me up. I think the Zicam really worked to help lessen my cold....tastes horrible but works. Thanks for the replies to help me get better before surgery!

MaidMarion 1 Posted March 16, 2008 I am so happy to hear your good news! Your situation really got me to wondering how often it must happen that you pick up a cold out there right before surgery. Good luck! and congratulations!
