Scared to tell mom about breast augmentation

Recommended Posts

I have lost over 100 lbs and I'm 32 lbs from goal. My breasts have gone down to an A/B from a nice C. I tried on my B cup the other day and it was indented on my left side, my smaller breast. So now I"m close to an A. Long story short, my mom had a friend who had implants a few years ago and within a year she had them removed. I know I am not her but I fear that my mom will be upset with me for doing that to my body. My clothes fit fine but it is more difficult to fit things with bras inserted like swimwear. I would like to go to a D cup as that is what I was when I breast fed. I am also scared they may be so obvious because I am only a B. I don't want them to look fake. I also heard they can be hard if you don't have a lot of breast tissue to work with. Any ideas on what I could tell my mom?

Julie - is your mom afraid of what could happen? Why not just say "what do you think about me getting my boobs done" and then feel her out, see where she goes from there. You may be suprised, she might think its great for you.

Hi Steph, I broke down and told her yesterday. She wasn't realy concerned about the implants more the cost. She went on to tell me all about the friends she has that have had plastic surgery. Now I am glad I told her. Going from a B to a D would have been so obvious!

Hi Julie,

I'm going for breast augmentation on March 27th, down 100 pounds, pretty much at goal. I'm 37 years old and was absolutely terrified to tell my mom and dad, I told them recently and they were alright with it. Isn't it funny how no matter how old we are, we're still afraid of what our mom and dad thinks? I was also a C and am now a deflated B, going to a D or DD, not sure yet. All the weight loss and breastfeeding left them in a sad state, I literally fall out of my bra all day long. I can't stand it! Good luck with your surgery!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
