LJM and Karey - I didn't catch how long you were in the hospital when you had the surgery. My dr says I'll be in 3 days. My sister was an outpatient.

Anyone else have to stay a few days?

my doc initially said 1 night in the hospital, but due to my extremely low BP and higher than wanted temp, i stayed an extra night. SOOOOO glad i did.

thanks LJM! I thought 3 days sounded extreme but maybe it'll be a good thing.

How are you feeling? I read that you are back to work half days this week. Is that working for you or is it over doing it?

hey steph..

if insurance is paying for it, i say STAY 3 days!!! i would have loved being there another night, but $500 a night, youch!!

i am back 1/2 days ... they are S L O W... which i guess is a good thing... maybe. kinda bored.

im really sore today. i slept without my binder last night (wanted to let my stitches and incision 'breathe') so that may be the reason. who knows??

I guess I'll take advantage of it since ins is covering it. But I don't have alot of responsiblity at home and no little ones to tend to so I'd just as soon be home laying around... I think

:confused2:

I got a call from the dr's office today.. they have me worried now. They said they were calling to set a date but then they noticed something wrong in the billing codes, of course I wasn't home so this is all on my answering machine. She said she'd be calling me in a day or two ... so now I sit here and sweat it out, I'm hoping the ins co just put in something stupid like knee surgery and just need to correct a number ... could I be so lucky?

Keep praying for me, I'm not out of the woods yet.

I had no idea that there was any possibility that insurance would cover any kind of PS. What kind of conditions must be met for it to be covered? My band wasn't covered at all, so I doubt PS will be.

kjeter and suemagoo, a cosmetic procedure will be covered by most insurances for abdominoplasty's when the surgeon can show evidence of "skin integrity issues" I had a Tummy Tuck 4 years ago and it was totally paid for since there was enough overhang to cause potential issues, I only had 7lbs 10 oz removed so if you have lost alot of weight then you can hope that yours will be covered, if your inital letter is a refusal, appeal it, sometimes if you pester enough, the insurance will give in just to get you off their back. good luck, seeing my close to flat stomach was one of the best moments of my life!!

Sue - I did pm you.

If anyone else is interested this is what I wrote. Good luck.

When you go in to see the ps, tell them you get rashes under the 'apron' (did you see my pics? they are in the thread "I got approved!!!!"), you do have an apron, right? Anyway tell them you get rashes, I said I need to use an anti fungal cream for athletes feet to get the rashes to heal, tell them you feel a tearing of the skin when you roll over, that you have a hard time jogging bc the skin slaps, so even with it binded its real uncomfortable, and also lower back aches. If you can think of anything else that would cause a medical reason for the removal tell the the surgeon.

I know some insurance will cover the pannectomy (apron removal) but not the Tummy Tuck. I think most ps will work with you and only charge so much for the extra work. My surgeon told me lets at least get the hospital stay covered and then we will worry about the rest, since the hosptial is the most expensive part.

I truely was not expecting the insurance to come through for me like this. I have said it before and I'll say it again, I give God the glory bc I did an awful lot of praying. I feel blessed (even tho the girl in scheduling probably thinks I'm a real beast).

I had my band placed Thursday, March 13th and still in the hospital due to blood clotting issues. (Actually admitted to the hospital on March 10th). Not feeling great, feeling bloated. I was on Clear Liquids for the first 24 hours and now on full liquids. Keep forgetting to sip things all along. I am anxious to see the doctor this Thursday and see where the journey takes me next. I have so many questions that I want answers to.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
