I just found out about this site and joined. I live in Yorktown Hgts, Ny and am in the process of trying to get autho from my insurance to have Dr Fielding from NYU do my Lap Band. I have an appt to see the psy in a couple of weeks. I would like to hear from some fellow Westchester residents and hear about your experiences. Thanks!

I live in Westchester too and am in my 6 month medically supervised weight loss period. I am also looking into having Dr. Fielding do my surgery. I cant really answer any of your questions, but I figure its always good to know someone else in your area and situation. Good luck with everything!

Hi Lauren,

Thanks for your reply. Seems like we are both going through the same thing. It is good to meet you. Where in Westchester do you live?

If this is not something you want to answer, I understand. Take care and good luck!

I live in Tarrytown and work in the city. Really liked Dr. Fielding after the meeting at NYU and am looking forward to having the surgery, hopefully toward the end of the summer.

Did you have the chance to meet with Dr Fielding personally or just at the seminar? I was told that I would only be able to meet him after my psy, nutrition, meeting with nurse and my insurance cleared it.

Have a good day!

Hi Lauren!

How are you doing! You were the only one who responded to my new thread and I want to say HI! I have been moving forward and am now on the liquid diet for two weeks. UGH!!!!!!!!! My date is July7 with Dr Fielding. I have just stated to work with this website again and have been in the "mentor, I'm here" forum. It is helpful and maybe we can correspond there or here. Write back:cool2:! Barb

Congrats on your surgery date! I am finishing up my 6 months next month and hopefully everything will go smoothly from there. I have my nutritionist appt. in a few weeks and am getting nervous about the insurance part of it. Did you get to meet Dr. Fielding yet? He seems really nice! Good luck with the liquid diet....not looking forward to that! Keep me updated on everything!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
