Julie - I'm 13 from MY goal of 150, but to get into the normal bmi I need to get to 145, I feel I'm close enough for the tt.

Kat I like your pic too - don't let the insurance off that easy call them again tomorrow and say you are concerned bc your dr said it had been mailed 10 days ago. It might kick em in the butt and get them going.

Actually the girl I spoke with at the insurance was really nice. She give me her direct extension, saying since she knew what I was waiting for she would be able just to put the info in and see if anything had come up on it, and I would not have to repeat my story everyday when I called.

So...#1 she actually already knew I would be calling everyday!!!

and #2, is willing to give me her X # so I don't have to tell my life story a hundred times. Now I just hope the Dr.'s staff is upstanding in what they say they did as far as mailing them.

Since it is a first submission, it has to be original pictures etc---and has to be mailed, not faxed or emailed.....

Will let y'all know!

Kat

Kat - hang in there. I know it gets frustrating but we know it's going to be well worth it when we finally get this done.

I've done so good since I got my last fill, I think I'm down another pound or 2 even tho I've been out of town the last 4 days and eating out every meal. I just got home and stepped on the scale 4:00 in the afternoon - and it actually looked good so I'm hoping that tomorrow morning it looks better. I want to go to the dr on Thursday 5 lbs lighter.

I have UPMC. I had to show proof of a medical need. So when I went in I told the doctor that I get a rash thats like athletes foot, I use a cream for athletes foot on it. I told him that when I roll around in bed it feels as if I might tear the skin, and that I can't jog because the flap slaps as I run, someone else said to tell them you have lower back aches, which I do but forgot to tell them about that.

Hi Steph...congrats!! The next month will fly by. I have to show that it is medically necessary as well and I have a consult on the 3rd of April. Quick question for you...about the rash...did you just TELL the PS that it was a problem or did you actually have pics of it? Thanks for your help and congrats again!

I just told him about it, but I do know others who have gone in when they have the rash to document it. (I also hear that alittle Dawn dish soap will give you a rash overnight, if needed)

I go in on Thursday - I'm hoping they'll schedule my surgery then.

Thank you for the 'instant rash' recipe! LOL:lol::)

I really hope you get a surgery date when you go in Thursday! How exciting that would be, right?!

I'm hoping and praying its real soon. The sooner the better!

I think you should probably call your insurance company and ask them if you should take a picture of the rash or if you can just tell the doctor about it. They'll let you know what their criteria is.

Thanks Tracy and good luck to you! I hope it all works out for you. I thought there was no hope that the insurance co. would pay for anything and when I had called them prior to my dr visits they said that everything would have to be submitted before they could decide how much would be covered. I believe God answers prayer and believe me I did alot of praying.

I got my date - May 1st. Not as soon as I had liked but I'm happy. He would like me to lose 10 more lbs so that gives me a whole month to get off as much as possible.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
