LOL I had the lap band done on the 4 of March. I am very excited about it and want to everything right. I however have an issue with the Protein powders. I am really having issues with sweet things. Is there a good source without the sweet flavors. Thanks so much for your time and I appreciate your Help. This is a wonderful forum.

I find that the EAS flavors aren't terribly sweet. They're definitely (to me) the least sweet of the 15+ kinds of tried.

Milk is a good (not great) source of Protein. unjury has a chicken Soup flavored Protein powder, which I have a sample of, but have been as yet afraid to try. If you're still on the full liquids phase, you could blenderize some cottage cheese with a little milk to thin it down. Cottage cheese is a great source of Protein.

Personally, I don't like ANY of the sweetened protein powders or shakes. None of them taste good to me, and they all seem to give me the trots.

Always keep in mind that this phase of the post op diet is NOT for weight loss, it's for healing, so try not to worry too much about your calorie intake right now.

I use Spir-tein. You can get that at the health food store. They come in alot of flavors. You can also get Protein power that is unflavored. I normally do a Protein Shake for Breakfast and Spir-tein is by far alot better than any I have had. I havenever tried the medically supplied ones. Go to the health food store and talk with someone there they are a wealth of info

I like the unflavored Unjury protien with skim milk and I use sugar free neslte quick in a blender with crush ice and it makes a great shake. Just let the unjury dissolve real good, its good in unsweeten applesauce 2.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
