Am I going to lose my mind on mushies?

Recommended Posts

I am so sick of mushies and liquids! The fat girl inside me is screaming to eat some real food! It is so hard for me to be patient. I want my fills fast, my stomach restricted and to be able to get on to eating what I want. I sound like a 2 yr old throwing a temper tantrum but I am so hungry. How many fills till this is all worth it? Please give me some advice all you veteran banders. I was banded on 2/28, just 11 days ago

OMG, I was banded 2/29 and I feel the same way.... I am so over this mushie and liquid diet.... I do not want to feel this way and sometimes I get so over food I just don't eat and I know that is not good... The first week was soo good. I mean I could barely eat a cup of food. I am going to the gym tomorrow. We can do this, we will have our first fill soon, just be strong.....I am talking to myself as well......

By no means a veteran, but it's taken 5 months / 6 fills to get proper restriction. I'm at 7.9cc's in my 10cc AP band - I've had to rely a lot on willpower - when all I wanted from my band was to keep the "hungries" away.

It's a tough time, just 11 days out - Once you move to solid food, it does get easier....and restriction comes early for some / late for others...Got my fingers crossed for ya'll...Hang in there!!!

PS - it is worth it. Would have liked the weight to come of faster - but at least I'm at a place where I'm not gaining...for a change:redface:

Wow, just banded.

I was on regular food by weeks end...but talk with your doctor.

And yes, it's all worth it.

Went to Vegas this weekend to shop for a new wardrobe...Nordstroms, Macys, etc. Was nice fitting into a size 6/8 w/o bulging over or anything!

So worth it!!!!

If you haven't done so already schedule an appointment in 5 more weeks (6 weeks post op) and get a fill that day.

While you are there, schedule another appt for 4 weeks later for another fill. Need it, go. Don't, cancel the day before.

Congrats and we'll see you on this end before you know it!

Kristi43 I ate squash casserole at the mushy stage and it was so wonderful. If you have Black Eye Pea where you live they make a delicious one that is very mushy & satisfying. Hang in there!!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
