I have a question if anyone can answer it. How long did it take everyone to get back to work after the surgery. Mine isnt until the end of april and I am just wondering how many days do I need to take off work? I work in a corporate setting, however I do walk alot for meeting and etc. Otherwise I am cooped up in my office all day. Do you think I will be find if i only take like 4 days off or so. Can anyone let me know. I just want to make sure I am not rushing back to soon.

Thanks Everyone

-Elaine

I would also love to hear the answer to this question. I'm a teacher, so my job is not physically strenuous, however; if you just feel terrible for 2 weeks PO, I'd rather wait until summer break to have it done. Can't wait to hear what your experiences were.

I would like to know this answer myself.. I am worried about re-coop time too. I work in a call center so I am tied to a headset for my entire 8am-7pm shift & we have 2 scheduled 15 minute breaks & one hour for lunch... no exceptions. So, I am curious how hard others would think it would be to stick to a schedule like that right after surgery.

Plus we can take upto 10 weeks of paid medical leave, but I can't just come and go if I don't feel good one day.

:sneaky:

I work in a restaurant and do a lot of physical labor. I went in for surgery on a Tues. and was back to work the following Tues. I didn't lift anything over 10 lbs. for about 2 or 3 weeks after. The doctor suggested 6 wks. of no heavy lifting but that just wasn't feasible. I've had so much more energy starting almost immediately after my surgery that it was no big deal going back to work. I feel that if you get your Protein in you feel stronger sooner.

I am a teacher as well, and have dedided to wait for summer. WELL EXCUSE ME...I am patiently waiting for insurance approval too. Anyway, SMYLIE 1...I am waiting because I don't want to deal with the food issue at first with a school day...it is hard enough to have a healthy meal let alone worry about all the liquid...coming out...catch my drift? Also, in the event there is any complications, I have several weeks to get over it??? Think how fun it will be to show up in Aug...having lost some more weight???Just my thoughts....

hI . WELL, I will probably be gettin the surgery in April, I'm a manager at the Welcome Center, I do not lift much. I'm more a babysitter for my counselors. I have a desk job but to be safe I plan on taking 10 days after surgery. My days off are Thurs and Fridays, so I can only hope he operates on Tues taking Wednesday as a personal day and Saturday to Wednesday as vacation time. Good Luck to all the future banders.

I am taking two weeks off. I read on other threads that most people take 7 - 10 days off. some wish they had taken more and some went back to work within 2 or 3 days. It depends on you, what kind of job you have ie Labor or sit down and how many hours your there. I have a sit down job with long workdays 10 - 12 hours/daily, and prefer not to be miserable while there, I am on the phones most of the time dealing with customers.

I took off two weeks. After the first week, I felt much better and could get around okay but I did not feel well enough to not be irritable at work. So, I took off a second week. My cousin just had her surgery three weeks ago and she said the same thing.

You're right! It probably would be better as far as healing goes and I would love to go back and be a few sizes smaller! There are so many little skinny teachers at my school who are constantly on diets! I never tell anyone when I'm on one because I feel like they'd be thinking, "Well, it's not workin' for ya!".

I too am waiting for insurance approval, so the decision may be taken completely out of my hands of BCBS doen'st GET ON THE BALL!

Hey Smylie 1,

Where do you teach or live? I am in Mesa, AZ....I haven't told many about my summer plans either...I know what you mean about the "little" ones...to be honest though...the older I get, the more that doesn't bother me. I see we are ten years apart! So, I guess I got over it in the past decade...life is too short to worry about what others think....

I have a friend who says the same thing too...she eats in the lunch room and is so conscious of everything she eats and everyone...I eat in the library at my desk. Other people come in as well...maybe it is a safer atmosphere...

So, good luck waiting...I'm with you sister!...I want my approval like today because there are some classes I have to attend and one is next week while I'm on Spring Break. I can't go until approves...I don't want to take off school for it....

Keep in touch!

I am a teacher in Goodyear, AZ. A co-worker had the RNY done and she SWEARS to me that I'll be fine to come back--I am having mine on Thursday of next week and plan to be back on Tuesday. I know many of you will think I'm crazy, but I teach high school and the largest class I have is 24 and they can kind of be put on auto-pilot...so...she swears to me that with her helping out in the classroom, I'll be fine. My sister also teaches next door to me, so that will be a huge help.

So, you know what I mean by not wanting to be stuck on the phones miserable and uncomfortable ...LOL

Some days its hard enough taking the calls when you feel good..LOL :success1:

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
