Hello from Lower Delaware

Hello Everyone, I'm new to this site. I am looking forward to getting banded soon. I am looking for support groups near me. Any ideas?

Each state has a group on the forum. On the main page scroll down and you will see the "support" section. Look for the USA and then look for your state, you'll meet other banders from your state and maybe some local to you.

Hi Mojo:

I didn't find the section here helpful as there is really nothing for Delaware at all. Here is the information that I have found. I am not exactly sure where in lower Delaware you are so I put all the stuff for anything but New Castle County:

Brighter Beginnings WLS - meets 2nd Monday at 7 pm. Camden Friends Meeting House, 122 East Camden-Wyoming Ave., Camden, De 19934. Contact Kevin Sirman - 302-423-8734 and email is brighterbeginningswls@comcast.net

Downstate Downsizers (Lapband) - 4th Wednesday at 7 p.m. Call or Email Cathy Bronersky at 302-659-5597 or lapband406@yahoo.com

New Beginnings on 2nd Thursday at 7 pm. Smyrna Church of Christ, 1630 Goldsborough Rd., Smyrna, DE 19977. Contact is Ginger Barkley at 302-653-5971 and email is ginbark@aol.com

New Life WLS on the 3rd Thursday at 7 pm at Harrington Volunteer Fire Co., 20 Clark St., Harrington, DE. Contact Joanne Hammond at 302-947-0417 or email at Hambear73@aol.com

Rehobeth WLS on the 1st Tuesday at 7 pm at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 18 Olive Ave., Rehobeth, DE. No real contact info on this one.

Hope this helps!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
