BIGDSWIFE 0 Posted March 10, 2008 We are trying samples before the consults and i tried a Roadside Lemonade last night. it tasted very good, but in the night and this morning i have had cramping and diareaha. I was wondering if this is a side effect of the Protein Drinks or if something else might be causing this. thanks
shortgal 5 Posted March 10, 2008 Protein diets generally constipate people, so maybe there was something else in it that either didn't agree with you or did you eat something that day that just didn't agree with you?
bretalj 0 Posted March 10, 2008 omg everyone i know says YEP YEP those silly shakes give you the squirts.

BIGDSWIFE 0 Posted March 10, 2008 Our doctors office is real big on the Protein Drinks, so how do you survive the pre op and afterwards if this is what happens? Just curious, cause I was up all night.
make33 2 Posted March 10, 2008 Well, I've got to say that I have a Protein shake every day (and if lacking, twice a day) and I would hardly say I have that problem!! Au contraire!! Now I use the powdered (belgian chocolate) whey Protein isolate (not the canned garbage) and I mix it with Water. No clue but all I can say is that I've never found it to be the case with me... jenlev67 0 Posted March 10, 2008 Holy cow, you are not kidding! Today is my first day on shakes, or as I like to refer to them "pis@*ng-out-my-as*-juice. My surgery was this passed Wednesday, I thought I was done with the rough stuff
NukeChik 1 Posted March 10, 2008 Do remember the phrase "Liquids in , liquids out" if you are only doing liquids. I have a Protein Shake 3-4 times a week, I have the opposite problem now. Before banding I used to go 3-4 times a day, now once every couple days usually.
unshackled 1 Posted March 18, 2008 :embaressed_smile:I am wondering if I should call the er number because I have the runs really bad. I drank a protien shake trying to get in some protien on day4 post -op. I am not sure if I should drink those shakes again. I cannot stop going to the bathroom. Please forgive the graphics but I need some suggestions. What other ways can I get protien in during this first two weeks?
Texgirly 0 Posted March 18, 2008 I am pretty sure they call it Ensure because it will ensure a BM. I love the taste of the strawberry and the 13 g of Protein, but 30 minutes after I start one I am guaranteed a healthy bathroom visit. It is not exactly diahrea (sp?) for me, so I drink one about every other day.
