Fashion Hints

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone.

I was banded in Jan and have curently lost 17 kilos, yay me:cool2:

I am going to a wedding this weekend in melbourne and I am a whole size smaller in clothes, I am really hesitant on spending money on clothes which will soon be too big for me as I have heaps of clothes.

Any hints on making big clothes fit nicer to show off my new shrinking waste. I have gone from a big 22 to a small 20.

hmm, :) congrats on ur weight loss that is terrific.

I suggest find someone with a sewing machine and start taking things in.

I was advised not to buy clothes unless u have to whilst ur losing - otherwise it will cost u a fortune...

Hang on to those dollars for later on..

All the best adn hope the wedding goes well.

regards

M:thumbup:

They say not to buy but what happens when your underwear are sliding down your ankles cuz there too big? lol. I agree with what the second person said take clothes in or you could always go somewhere like the op shop, they usually have some nice stuff that has either never been worn or has only been worn once, that way you only pay roughly $10 on an outfit and then when your finished you can take it back and have someone else buy it I suppose. It'll definetly save you on money as well

Can you borrow something from someone? For an occasion like a wedding, it's probably worth investing in a nice outfit. You'll feel better than wearing something too big, and that's worth it alone. Going almost 3 sizes may make it difficult for a tailor to get a good fit. Small adjustments, no problem - multiple sizes -- iffy. But best of luck either way. :blushing:

Why not invest in something like a beautiful Pashmina. You can wear this no matter what size you are.

Wear it over a not too expensive plain black singlet type top. If you buy some black elastic waisted pants, you can tighen the elastic when you drop another size, so they might be a good basic for a couple of months.

Plus! let me just add, if you are going to a wedding there is no doubt going to be people there that your probably havnt seen in a while...dont you want them to see how ravishing you are looking!!!

I have dropped 4 dress sizes since sep 2007, have got into heaps of my old clothes but want to splurg on something new, but hey i know will not wear for that long, so splurg at the op shop i go, and some of those clothes are beautiful and no one will know. Give your old clothes away - the big ones that is because if your like me you will never let yourself get fat again.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
