Hi Beth,

My name is Linda. I have been looking at this site and reading what everyone has been saying. I am trying to decide if the Lapband would be right for me. How hard was it for you to get back on your feet from the surgery and start eating food again. Did you miss it?

My starting weight was 217lbs. So the next time I go to the doctors I hope:thumbup: to finally be under that 200 mark!!!!

Hi Linda! I am less than 2 weeks post-op so I am still a little tired, but am getting around ok. I relly haven't been that hungry, but I am on full liquids & getting tired of the same stuff every day. I will start a soft diet 3/16 & am looking forward to it!! Please let me know if you have any other questions!!

Great Job Beth. :) Glad you're here. Where did you get your surgery done at?

I had my band done at Akron City Hospital, Summa. They did a great job!!!

Hi Beth,

Well, I am going to a Seminar on March 22. I am trying to get all the information I can. I have a consultation March 31st with Dr. Tersigni, in Coos Bay Oregon. I talked with my husband again last night, and he is so afraid of all the side effects that this might have. He wants to know if there are anyone who has had the lap band for at least 10 years or long with any complications.

He just can't seem to understand why I just don't stick with Weight Watcher. I did very well on that program, but then slowly I gained it all back again.

What can I say that will help ease his concerns.

Beth, I am now in the insurance review and approval/denisl phase. How are you doing on the loss? I am having my band done by Dr. Z. at Akron City.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
