Is my plan realistic?

Recommended Posts

This is my plan. Please tell me if it is totally unrealistic. I have around 48 or slightly less to my goal, which is 10 lbs. less than my doctor’s goal. I have lost a little over 1 lb/week. I was averaging a little more weight loss until the last month. I got out of the routine of logging my food. As a result, I have not lost as much as I could have this past month. I’m logging again now and working on making it a routine.

I’ve started looking into PS and have been following many of your journeys. I am planning BL with TT or possibly a LBL. I was originally thinking I’d like to have it done in December. I’m now thinking I’d like to have PS in August (around mid month, which is 21 - 22 weeks away.)

I have met with one PS who thinks it is realistic if I can get closer to goal. I meet with another this coming Tuesday. Obviously, PS in August would require me to plan and get serious about what I eat as well as to substantially increase my exercise.

For those of you who have PS experience, is August too soon for PS with the amount of weight I still need to lose? Any insight is appreciated.

5 and a half months and 48 lbs seems realistic. That is just over 2 lbs a week. I think most PS will do surgery on you when you are 10-20 lbs from goal. I'm 216 and my goal weight is 185. My goal for surgery is 200. That would put me 15 lbs from goal. Let me know what your surgeon thinks.

Hi,

I was still 68lbs from goal when I booked the sx ( booked it before the band!!LOL) and I gave myself 4 months to lose 40lb, I just skimmed it in time for the sx!! Since the TT and Lipo I have gone down another 20lbs, so I am now only 8 from goal!

I think you will be fine - theres nothing like a goal at the end to keep you focused!

Kelly I have the same plans as you - 48 lbs to go and plans for PS anywhere from September to December.

I am really saving my PTO at work for it - I thought 2 weeks was plenty...plus I COULD work from home if I needed to...how much recovery time are you anticipating?

I've been to 2 area PS just to see their experience with weight loss and learn more...they were very disappointing...but I'll be watching your progress Kelly!! :grouphug:

Kate,

I'm planning to be off 2 weeks as well. The doctor said I should be able to go back then. I have more time, but I really don't want to be out any longer than 2 weeks if at all possible.

What was disappointing about your consults?

The first doctor came very highly recommended as a plastic surgeon, he does very well for himself in the "Main Line" which is french for old money around the Philly area. I met with him twice and was disappointed not only in his before and afters but also his bedside manner. Now, geniuses don't have to be all friendly and extroverted, but I just got a discordant vibe from him. Like a robot. Plus he'd never done ANY weight loss patients, and no idea what my port would end up looking like and had no suggestions.

The other lady completely turned me off. She wasn't just cold, she was rude to me. She actually reprimanded me for not losing all the weight, and to "lay off the cookies" and that I might need a lower body lift because "when you balloon out to a beach ball shape there's bound to be flappy skin in the back."

I almost killed her. Like I don't have enough fledgling self esteem!

Sure, maybe I was oversensitive, but her bedside manner was extremely condescending. She said "I can't give you ANY kind of waist, you know." Just so negative!!!

I may look to NYC where my band was done. I'm SURE they have great PSes up there :)

OMG! I'd have wanted to kill her too! I hope you didn't pay much for that "oh so helpful" advice.

I called my band doc to ask who they recommended. I really liked the PS they recommended. I had a second consult with another guy, but I think I like the first one better.

Why don't you try calling your band surgeon for a recommendation. Keep me posted.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
