I had a fill Friday. How do I tell the difference between the full feeling I'm suppose to get and the stuck feeling I am getting?????

I am having to drink fluids very slowly or else they feel like their coming back up my throat. And I just had some solid food and it "stuck" so bad I had a little back up of phlem and a burping episode before that. I know....sorry that is gross! I don't feel "full"...I just feel "stuck" and it hurts.

I don't know whether to tell my Dr. to take some out or not....I really really want the restriction!

Stay on liquids for a couple days. I feel swelling for about two days after a fill and then it relaxes. My Dr. advises two day of full liquids and then two days of soft food for that reason. Then gradually try firmer Protein.< /p>

Once you get stuck, it's best to have liquids for the rest of the day, so the esophogus can heal.

Until the swelling goes down, it is hard to tell how much restriction you have. Just go slow, drink very slowly, small sips. If you're not doing better tomorrow call the Dr.

Good advise! Thank you!

BTW my weight loss ticker is old. I can't seem to figure out how to change it myself.

I have lost 26 lbs. I'm a couple months behind things because my port actually came un-done a little and flipped upside down. I had to have a 2nd surgery to re-attach it and then couldn't get filled for another 6 weeks.

When you feel full with good restriction does it hurt? Or feel stuck?

did you bookmark the weight loss ticker page? Go to it and sing in with password, you then change the date and enter your new weight in pounds box. It should automatically update on forum. that's how I do mine.

congrats on 26 pounds!

I'm not sure I would label my restriction "good" but maybe "ok". I could use a alittle more, but I like to go slow with fills and sneak up on restriction becasue i don;t want to be too tight.

I feel more "tightness" than stuck and I would not use the word pain. Just more like a tightness between my breasts.

After a fill, with liquids two days and soft food, two days, i then gradually try firmer foods, so it can take 5 or 6 days, to figure out how good the restriction is. The pouch is meant to hold solid food for us to feel full, so until I try a few meals of good solid Protein, I'm not sure how long I will feel full.

Also, some people feel more tightness in the a.m. and then loosens as the day progresses. That hasn't happened to me.

I didn't bookmark my ticker when I first made it. I just tried to go in and make a new one to start over and I'm having trouble figuring out which part of it I'm suppose to copy and paste. Every time I try it it says invalid. I'll just wait until my son gets home. He will have to help me again. I am so computer illiterate!!

Thank you for answering me! I will take your advise and stay on liquids today and move to soft foods tomorrow or the next day and see how it goes.

I hope you have a great rest of your Sunday!!

Lisa

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
