Just banded on 3/5/08 and not hungry

Recommended Posts

Is it normal to not feel hungry or want anything to eat or drink the first few days post-op? I don't have a fill yet or anything. I try to drink my liquid diet but I just don't feel hungry and don't want to eat just because.

Yes, that is normal. It was quite a while before I was hungry. Even though you don't have a fill yet, you're still swollen from surgery. Once your swelling goes down, you'll be able to tell a difference and you may begin to feel a little hungry. Congrats on your surgery and good luck!

Yes, I was not hungry either. Could barely get my required Protein drink in the first few days. Dr' told me that might happen, just try to increase the amount each day until I was getting it all in. And that's what happened!

You have swelling from the surgery, it will go down and some hunger will return. Funny thing is, then you'll be worried about that! Ironic huh? we do this to get rid of hunger, we worry when we don;t have hunger, we get it back and think "oh no", I'm hungry.

All part of the early band phases. Normal and will pass with time. Just try to stay hydrated and Liquid Protein is your friend.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
