WOW!!! THANK GOOOOOOOOD, I AM NOT GOING CRAZY, I AM NOT A LONE!!! :scared2:I too have felt that this was a complete mistake! I've hated myself for not being able to control myself and having to take this approach towards my weightloss! But now I see that I am not the only one feeling this way and hopefully things will change for my own good.

Let see...I was rebanded 3/6/08 so I am 8 days out. Since Day of surgery I have lost 9 pounds. I did not have to do a pre op diet however I AM doing the same post op diet. 3/8 cup of food per meal really really sucks.

I somehow lost 12 pounds the first week. Then I never lost one more pound for at least two months. Like everyone says, you have to think about a year from surgery and figure you are going to have lost at least 52 pounds then and not worry about when the pounds are lost. I gain 4 pounds every month the week before my TOM - I don't think I really gain those 4 pounds but it still freaks me out to see the scale go up. Weight gained/lost right after surgery is not really gained or lost so try to keep looking at the overall picture. You aren't losing lap band weight until you get at least one fill.

Im 12 days post op. Im never hungry. I still have mental cravings but my body doesnt seem to respond to them in the same way. I am, however, bord out of my mind. I LOVE to eat while watching tv and now tv just isnt the same without a snack. I feel a lot of anxiety. Im not sure what to do to with all my free time now. Sometimes I actually feel like I want to scream.

I was banded on 3/6/08 but have not stepped on a scale, on purpose. I try to keep my focus on my food intake. When I'm hungry I have a drink. I'll have 2 Optifast shakes during the day and then Soups, which I love. (Tomato Basil, or even a Porcini Mushroom) Anything thin enough to be sipped thru a straw is my guideline.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
