Is it possible?

Recommended Posts

I can't believe it. I finally am able to walk with out crutches and was looking forward to doing some light exercise when BAM Thursday night I came down with bronchitis. I have coughing my head off when I am not sleeping. But today I was caoughing so hard that I think I did something near my port sit as it is quite sore right now. Is this possible, or am I over reacting anybosy else ever have this, and what did you do. It is two months since being banded and I am going for my first fill on Monday, should I be worried?

I have pulled my port site I don't know how many times. LOL!! Too many ab crunches, coughing too hard, laughing too hard, etc. Anything that uses your abs alot can aggravate the port. It is actually stitched to your ab muscle area and anytime you over exert your abs it can become aggravated. I use a heating pad and take Tylenol for the pain.

If it becomes hot to touch and doesn't go away in a few days then certainly tell you doc about it. It usually clears up in a few days. Just rest the abs as much as you can.

When you have to cough then brace your abdomen with a pillow or with your hands. That can help.

Bigmom, when you go for your first fill, you Dr. will be able to tell you if there is something wrong with your port, he will either be able to get the needle in or not, If he does his fills inder flouro he will get a very good look at your port. Its probably just sore from all of the coughing

I have port pain often, I have it right now, my port has been tender for 3 days now. Don't know why but it comes and goes. I'm not worried, I can feel my port pretty good since my weight loss. I'm sure yours is just sore from coughing, a bad cough can make your ribs sore so I imagine the port area would be sore as well.

Glad you're of the crutches! Have you tried taking anything like Robitussion liquid (a cough suppressant)? That should help control your coughing. Hope you're soon feeling much better.
