Am I eating to much and cheating

Recommended Posts

Hi again. First I wanted to say I LOVE THIS PLACE! I so see you guys as friends and look forward to logging on everyday.

My question is, I'm wondering if I am eating to much. Should I be able to eat a whole SF Jello cup at one time (I eat about 2-3 a day)? I eat very little bites at a time but I can finish the whole thing in a couple minutes. Also with the SF popsicles; I eat about 3 a day. I drink 10 oz of SF apple juice and about 50-60 oz. of Water a day. That's my diet and next week I can go to Protein drinks. I'm just worried now if I shouldn't be eating all that Jello and popsciles. Also if I just had to "cheat" what could I safely be able to eat? Not saying I would but just in case I break down while I'm out and about this weekend.

Big, huge..... GIGANTIC milestone for me: Haven't had Diet Coke since Noon Sunday, that's 5 whole days. OMG!!!!!!!!!! :tt2: I really thought I couldn't do it, neither did my kids or hubby! I FRICKEN SHOWED THEM!

P.S. I'm going to wal-greens now to weigh myself. I'll update when I get back.

I don't think you are eating too much at all. My doctor told me to drink/eat when I am hungry. I only had to be a the clear liquid for 24 hours and full liquid for 1 week and then I got to go on mushies for a few days then regular food. I really would try not to cheat during this stage of the game. I did cave and ate 1 scrambled egg and got scolded for doing it. Hang in there this is a temprary phase it gets better every day!!

Well, you could probably try some cream Soups now and V8 juice. I went to watery cream soups a few days early because the broth was just making me sick... I called my doc and he said it was fine as long as it wasn't like day three or anything... And it wasn't. It was like day 5 I believe...

It's not unusual to be able to eat more than you thought you should. After initial swelling goes down after surgery, your band is not working until you start to get fills, so some people are as hungry after surgery as they were before surgery.

Just try to follow the Dr's post op food stages. I would avoid cheating on carbs, becasue they will only make you more hungry and you'll crave carbs again. An extra piece of cheese or higher Protein food would be a better choice. Carbs will also slow down the weight loss!

Be patient and allow the whole band process to unfold and happen!

Thank you so much! Well I kind of did cheat. My Dr. said I can suck on hard candy so I went to Wal-greens and stocked up on sugar free hard candy. While I was there I saw suger free hershey chocolates. So I got one and let it dissolve totally in my mouth before I actually swallowed. But I had too, it's that time of the month and the monster inside me took over. I promise I will not cheat anymore. :tt2:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
