I miss my wine!!

Recommended Posts

Ok, technically I am 28 but I started having kids at 20 so I have always been ahead of my peers so I feel more comfortable talking to 30 somethings about LBlife than 20somethings about partying and dating. (Although I miss those days).

Anyways, so I went out with girlfriends last Friday and had some drinks.

My hubby (supportive but more like weight loss police) says to my neighbor..."She better not be out drinking" and my neighbor later told me she was thinking "what do you think she is doing...she has three little kids and she is out of the house"...lol.

So point.....I LOVE a glass of wine with dinner one or two nights a week and I know it is empty calories and Would have to be included in my caloric intake for the day.....but since my hubby is watching me like a hawk I feel like I am 16 sneaking a smoke from my parents!

I love my band so far and am doing well, but MAN DO I MISS MY WINE!!

He means well and just doesn;t want to see me disappoint myself AGAIN

ANYONE ELSE WHO LIVES WITH THE LAPBAND POLICE!!!!LOL

I don't have children, and my DH doesn't act like the food police. But that could be because I told him that this is MY journey, and I don't need or want him to be my food police, I'm a big girl, and I'm well aware of what I'm putting into my body. Not that he ever acted in a manner that made me think he needed to hear this, but I just wanted him to know up front how I felt about it, and he's respected that.

Sounds like your dh might benefit from hearing it as well. Maybe he just doesn't realize that what he's doing makes you feel like you're five years old and being chastised by a parent instead of an adult being supported by her husband.

And as far as the wine goes, just make sure to count the calories, and don't overdo it! There are lots of bandsters who have wine regularly, with no problems.

I'm with travelgirl. I'm sure your DH means well, maybe he just doesn't realize how it sounds. You're an adult and if you want to have a few glasses of wine on occasion, then so be it. You're aware that they're empty calories and all the rest of it, but it's your body and your decision.

I am the on the other side; my DH has always eaten poorly and eaten large portions, although I used to match him pretty well. The other night he was eating spaghetti and I was eating cottage cheese mixed with some Tomato sauce and Parmesan cheese (on the tail end of the mushies). I had to bite my tongue to keep from pointing out that he easily had three servings of Pasta on his plate -- it was enormous. He always ate more Pasta than me before but now it looks even bigger compared to the amounts of foods that I'm eating. I try to buy healthy things that I know he likes and encourage him, but I can't make his food choices for him.

So he hasn't been the food police for me really, although he did remind me to eat slowly and sip slowly right after I was banded. I had a pretty bad habit of vacuuming up my food!

Yea, I know my husband wont do that. I love wine too! I would drink a few glasses a week! When my dietitian said no booze for a yr, I just looked at her cross eyed! You are kidding?!

LOL.. I will just have to lie to them and tell them I have been a good girl! lol.. they are the wine police! Please I don't think drinking every once in a while will hurt my results! A year, shoot!!!:teeth_smile:

A glass of wine a night is GOOD for you. Its a positive health habit. One standard drink. Particularly red wine, its full of good things for your heart and my mum's cardiologist has told her to tell her three daughters to start the habit now and KEEP IT UP for life! Lucky I've been doing it for years.

Red wine (and to a lesser extent white) is NOT empty calories, its full of health giving anti-oxidants and flavanoids. Other booze is best left untouched, doesnt do anything much for you, but anything is reasonalbe in moderation too if its a pleasure in your life.

And at the last lapband seminar I was at, the surgeon speaking said that their patients that drink wine regularly for some reason tend to do better than the non drinkers.

Abeaher.....you should print out Jachut's response and show it to your hubby!!!

Cheers to you, Jachut!!!! Fortunately, my DH is not the band police. I enjoy a few glasses of wine on Saturday's and it hasn't slowed my weight loss at all. Hope you can get your hubby to back off a bit!!

Thanks to all who responded. I took Jachuts advice and told DH and I quote "I'm a big girl, I am perfectly capable of making my own decisions regarding my dietary intake. I have had 600 calories today(by 8pm) and if I want to use 200 more to have a glass of wine then that is MY choice. I know you are trying to help but you are crossing the line". He has not said anything since.

Just wanted to update you.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
