Anxious to be thin again!

Hi all, I have been researching the lap band procedure for a few months. I have been going to a therapist for depression about the way I look and then I learned that my insurance provider Tricare (military) covers the procedure! I am stationed in Vicenza Italy so I am going through Dr. Favretti. I am very excited for him to do the surgery, I trust him 100% considering he is one of the ones who helped make the Lap band and he has been doing it since 1993! I met for the first time yesterday and he was so nice and confident. He says he can do the surgery within the next few weeks if I like. I still need to get used to the idea and work out all the details with my husband and children. This is life changing for me and I couldn't be happier!!!:):laugh:

Congrats on your decision! I am scheduled for 3/17 to be banded and looking forward to the life change. My family is on board now and want to see the change for the better. My son is still little so he doesn't understand but will see the motivation and more mobile mom in the future. All around we will be better for ourselves and for others. I wish you the best in your journey of a better you! Stay focus and love the new you and I will also. Take care

Good for you, the best decision you'll ever make. I had my surgery 3/28/05, 165 pounds later and a whole new life..............

Congrats!

I'm very glad Tricare covers this procedure.

I was the servicemember, so no tricare, I gave my life and body to the USA and was injured....badly. 100% service connected.

But will the VA cover it? Heck no! They do a few, but the requirements are worse than all the red tape of the insurance industry...with them you have to even live in a certain region.

So being the Marine...I can't get it covered.

But if I were married to one...I could.

Boy our country is screwed up!

{but Tricare covering it hopefully will open the way for the VA do follow suit}

      Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
      What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

      I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
