How long after your 1st fill did you get your 2nd?

Recommended Posts

My lap band surgeons office could not get me an appt for my first fill until more then 6 weeks after my surgery. At my first fill the automatically put 3 cc's in my 14 cc band. I was told at the time of my first appt to go ahead and schedule my next fill for 4 week later which I did. I went home and to my disappointment discovered that I still had almost NO restriction. I tried to move my appointment up, but they told me manufacturer recommends 4 weeks between fills. I am wondering if that is true or if they are just trying to get me past the 90 global period so I have to start paying for the fills.

Anybody allowed to get the 2nd fill less then 4 weeks after the first?

For those with a 14cc band, how many fills before you really had some restriction?

yeah, i had to wait 4 weeks too.

not to burst your bubble, but it sometimes takes a few fills to get your sweet spot...

i know its frustrating, but you can do it!!

EVerybody is different inside their stomach and where the band is placed you might have more or less fat than I do in that place. So your band might need to be tighter or looser than mine to fit YOU.

As you loose weight (and fat around the stomach and band) the band will loosen again and you'll need another fill.

My Dr.s office has done fills on me as close as two weeks, but I generally get small amounts, 2 cc's first fill, one cc each fill after.

But I agree, some Dr's just seem to slow up the process, so the 90 day ins rule is up and they can bill patient or bill ins for more fills.

Seven and a half weeks after the first one for me. I went in at four weeks but had lost so well, he wouldn't do it. So I had my second one 3 1/2 weeks later. It was time.

My doctor allows fills every ten days if you don't feel restriction. She is usually rather conservative so if she allows it I am sure it is safe!

Wow every 10 days. I got my first fill at 4 weeks and will get my second at 8 weeks. I don't really have any restriction either but I was prepared for that. I am also a person that does not have a lot of fat around my stomach so I'm wondering if my fills won't last that long. Dr. Marsden told me that I was a "little bitty thing" and I could have hugged him.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
