hahaha - you are too kind. my goal is to get my cheekbones back!!! not sure if that's a weight or size (do cheekbones come in a size) but i'm inspired to look like i did 2 years ago...i mean - it's not like i'm trying to look like i did 15 years ago in high school...2 years is not that much of a stretch...right?

I was just looking at your photos on your blog (re: cheekbones) and thought I'd tell you that the first time I saw your avatar, I thought, "Wow. That girl may have just gotten a band, but she's got awesome cheekbones!" And I'm jealous...

Catheters are usually placed after falling asleep and removed prior to waking up...even if it is just a straight cath...they need to monitor kidney function during surgery

Just an update - everything is going very well. On to the mushy stage and been experimenting (not too well...made mushy friendly crab cakes and they did not turn out very edible). Tonight it's mushy friendly lasagna. We'll see how that goes! Thank you all for your support via my blog. It's been a trip so far!

Lise, you should add roasted yams to your mushy phase, well if you like them that is. I cut them either in fry shape or rounds and roast them with a teeny bit of olive oil and salt and pepper at 400 degrees for 25 min first side and 20 min second side, they are one of my favourite food items even prebanding and I could eat them every day!!

Can't say I've ever had roasted yams...but they sound good (well - right about now ANYTHING sounds good!) I've saved your recipe below and will try them out this weekend. But let me warn you - I am not ..I repeat NOT a good cook. I burn Jell-O. Often. But I'll give it a shot! Thank you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
