short1 2 Posted March 5, 2008 After my 2nd fill I threw up every day for 2 weeks. Finally, after a couple days of soft foods only, the swelling went down and I was able to eat solids again. Call your Dr. and see what they say. Good luck.
VegasGrace 1 Posted March 6, 2008 Yep. I slimed up some hot dog pieces 2 days after I ate the beenie weenies. That was weird. If you are vomiting...as in convulsions or like when you upchuck with the flu....call your doctor. But, if it's just stuck...doesn't feel good, but you kinds 'softly vomit' as in just lean over and it comes out....no worries. Drink some sodapop quickly...but do it near a sink. The soda may loosen it and bring it up. you didn't mention pain or convulsions...that's why I wrote this.

A lot of surgeons tell you not to drink soda, period, once you're banded...and other say not to within the first six months. So I'd check with your surgeon before doing that. VegasGrace 1 Posted March 6, 2008 Definetly... always ask your doc... but, you wouldn't be 'drinking' it would you? It would come back up w/ the chicken. They also have a saline laxative in a bottle that I used once to get a hamburger disloged. It's really bubbly. And no, because none was digested it didn't have a laxative effect. shortgal 5 Posted March 6, 2008 You've mostly likely irritated the esophogus and it needs some time. some people mention a warm liquid helps, very small sips, very slowly. Don;t get dehydrated, if you feel you are ok to wait until tomorrow then see how you are in the a.m. if not better call your Dr. If you have a lot of pain call the Dr now. When you get stuck, it's best to not continue the meal and give the esophagus time to heal. And drink only liquids the rest of the day that you get a bad stuck episode. I assume nothing is stuck now that what was stuck came up. Can you suck on an ice chip slowly?
Bunny 0 Posted March 6, 2008 Jan_08, I experienced something very similar. After I vomited the chicken, I thought I could try more food but just chew better. This made thing entirely worse. Water would only go down if I warmed it up and sipped it slowly. Warm/hot liquids seem to go down better after something like this happens. I drank coffee, warm water and broth for the next day and 1/2 until the swelling went down. Then, went to the mushy phase. Typically, if you have to vomit you should be on liquids the rest of the day at least.
shortgal 5 Posted March 6, 2008 Yes, if the food is not still stuck, no soda, the carbonation could irritate things more. If food is still stuck people have suggested and I've used papaya enzyme tablets chewed or a sip of pineapple juice. My nurse also suggested coughing to see if it dislodges. THIS IS FOR FOOD STILL STUCK.
Sue Magoo 71 Posted March 6, 2008 Jan 08 If the food is still stuck call your doctor. If you cannot keep fluids down call your doctor. Being dehydrated can cause very serious problems. If you are able to get fluids down, stick with fluids for a couple of days, and then slowly introduce mushies for a couple of days, and then solids a few days after the mushies are going down without issues. One time when I had something stuck I bent over and reached as far as I could forward and it dislodged my food.< /p> I hope you feel better soon. Sue

aubrie 6 Posted March 6, 2008 Try peppermint tea. It calms the stomach and the warmth loosens up the stoma. It's worked several times for me....
