Ok not from Feb but have to say you guys are a hoot!!! Can we pretend I am from Feb? You are more entertaining!

On a side note, that darn mickey is a player....he was my guy too! I cried the first time I saw him (and a big mac) after my surgery...it still brings a tear to my eye.

I do have to admit I cheated on him to...with Carl. God, his shakes were the best. And his Western....sigh.

I went to pizza Hut with my family last night and was bad and feel like crap about it. I had a plate of salad from the bar.....and a piece of pizza.....AND the crust end of my sons. It was like old times and I actually felt a little full for the first time in 6 weeks. I feel horribly guilty about it and ended up with a stomach ache last night.

Man, I need a fill.

Oh ok...so I meet a new guy. I am over Mickey. I really am, but I went on vacation last night and I meet Carl Jr. I have never meet him before as I live in louisiana where the only boy is Mickey, and the only girl Wendy.

So Carl didn't tempt me too much and I did ok...until he invited me in for a captain crunch shake. I promise though, I feel so guilty and it is def. going to be just a one night stand!

:puke:

Hello,

I was banded on Feb 15th - one week after surgery I enjoyed a fried pork chop, potato chips and pancakes. Once discovering that these things went down without a problem - I've been on a "eat it now before you can't" Quest which is actually worse than before I even considered getting surgery (you know the desperation)! I patiently waited my 6 weeks for a fill, asked for the maximum - got 5 cc's yesterday, and tested it out today. Still hungry, still could eat the pancakes. Something's not right or I'm doomed.

I don't post one of those weight loss tickers because I haven't loss any weight. Sigh...;):frown::frown::blush:

Wow, I can't even imagining eating that stuff at a week out, but I was one of the lucky ones who had restriction at first. I got 3.2 cc in a 14 cc band last Monday and I have pretty good restriction, but it seems to be less by the day.

I guess the best advice I can offer is, just because you can, doesn't mean you should. The band isn't a miracle, it's a tool.

I would guess that you are thinking once you get good restriction, things will be different and that is partially true. However, if you continue to find ways to eat around the band (and "test" it) you will not be successful. No matter how tight your band is, ice cream (and some other high calorie foods) will go down.

I would ask why you are testing your band with pancakes. If you are still hungry because you don't have good restriction, can you make a healthier food choice such as an egg or a high Protein Cereal or a piece of fruit? Establishing better food choices now will help you later.

Easter morning feast was the first day I felt only a little restriction, I ate mostly stuff that had gone into a food processor at one point and a nice smooth calorie laden dessert. Its been down hill since then. I can eat rice, cold cuts, burger patties, pork (the moist fatty cuts) and many other things even pizza! Within the span of 3-4 days I went from "not even hungry" to "Sure, I'll eat that horse, thank you". I will even drink to get more in without "damaging the band" as my stupid reasoning tells me. I've lost over 21 lbs since the Feb 28 surgery, the band must need the adjustment and in my defense, the after-band binges are smaller than my pre-band Snacks so I know its at least an improvement :huh2: I get adjusted in 5 days. I need to get back on track. Too much was invested for me to screw this up.

Darn it. I hate this confessions thread - but I love the accountability. Ok, Thursday night I went to a Sweeney Todd party with a bunch of girlfriends. We all brought "Sweeney Todd" type treats, like Blood punch, and meat pies, and 'finger' sandwiches. I knew there would be temptations - so I brought tomatoes and fresh mozerella (Flesh and Bones), so I would have something healthy to eat. Here's what I ate instead: chocolate cake (2 pieces), about 8 strawberries dipped in the chocolate fountain, 1 huge piece of meat pie, pepper strips dipped in ranch dressing, and 2 cups of coffee. Oh - plus some of the cheese and Tomato stuff I brought.

I excused this because I had weighed in at my doctor's earlier and had passed the "50 lbs lost" mark.

As a warning - it was fun for a while - but then I felt like crap. I was way too full, and my body completely hated all that fat and sugar. I had wicked burps for 12 hours afterwards. Not worth it at all.

Hello everyone -

Can you give me a little more advice on the "making better choices" thing? I mean, being REAL, we all know that we should make better choices and eat "right" with or without a band - and most of us could not accomplish this before being banded - but if I was so good at making good choices, I wouldn't have needed to be banded. So, perhaps you could give me some different ways to "psych" myself out since restriction isn't happening? I mean, I test the band - and eventhough I shouldn't I do. It's like I need to know that the band is there and I'm not convinced that it is. I understand that there is always going to be an issue of making good choices, but what about the issue of not being able to eat as much since your stomach is supposedly much smaller. That's the tool part - I'm not talking ice cream vs. yogurt here - I can eat a HORSE as olgi330 stated.

PLEASE HELP!!

Are you able to eat as much now as you were before being banded? Are you eating Protein first, veggies second, and carbs last? Are you not drinking a half hour before and after your meals but still drinking a lot between meals? Just because you can eat a lot right now doesn't mean that you should. You will need to exercise some self-discipline right now until you start getting fills. You only need to do this for a few months and then it will get easier, maybe not even that long. Eat lots of protein. Back off on the carbs, they only make you hungrier. Write down a list of the reasons why you got the band. Make sure they are things you really want. Post them on your fridge. Then decide which you want more. What's on the list or what's in the fridge or the pantry. Then go eat some protein or drink some Water.< /p>

When do you get your first fill?

There's a fun little book called "Eat This Not That". I don't know if it will be of any help but it gives you alternatives for eating out. I got it at Target. I'm sure it is in the bookstores too.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
