010308 0 Posted March 15, 2008 This comes more under the heading of insurance fraud rather than white lie. I don't think it is worth the risk, apart from the dishonesty angle. If necessary, wait until next year when you can sign up for insurance again. By the way, as far as I know there is no fraud in asking your parents to cancel you off their policy just so you can get coverage through your own employer. The law simply states that you can get coverage outside of your open enrollment period when there is a qualifying event.
