Question for Dr. J.Lo Neck lift

Recommended Posts

Hi Dr.

I want to know if most Dr's tighten the muscle under the neck when they do a neck lift? What is the procedure called when the muscle is tightened.

I have creping under the neck (had it before I lost any weight) but I don;t want just a face lift. I had one ps consult before the band, but then my husband had some health issues and I realized that if I was going to get banded, I should wait to lose my weight before having surgery. That surgeon did not mention the muscle under the neck. Do you tighten it, when you do neck lifts?

I need a lot of surgery. My thighs, my neck and face and a panni. My arms aren't great already, but not sure I want that long scar.

Is is possible to lift the arms just making a scar in the armpit?

Thanks for any reply. I can how busy you are from the Big Medicine show.

I would love info about your out of town programs. I have a friend in Dallas ( I think you're in Houston) that I could stay with for a week after surgery, just to be sure I'm ok before going home.

Hi, tightening the muscles is called a platysmaplasty, and that is done if it's needed (like everything else in PS!).

Sometimes the issue is excess skin, sometimes its excess fat, or excess muscle laxity...or a combination.

I tailor the procedure to correct the problem issues.

I usually do the face very last..after the body work...as changes in wieght (i.e. loss) after the body procedures is common and it will really show on the face.

Thank you Dr.

Good to know, as I would have done the face first. It's the first thing eveyone sees and can't be hidden like thighs!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
