cmcallister2 0 Posted March 4, 2008 Wow!! I decided to look into doing the lapband just recently. My pcp suggested speaking to a surgeon who specializes in it and I had an appointment the next day. Im self pay so there are no insurance hurdles to jump. By the end of the two hour appt I had surgery scheduled for the 19th!!! I have two weeks to get everything done. My psych eval is tomorrow and next week I see the nutritionalist. Im very excited. My BMI is 43 right now. I have severe back problems and also have to see a spinal surgeon. Hopefully after the surgery and the weight starts coming off the back problem will resolve. My biggest concern now is that I have a trip planned for three days after the surgery. I can't change it as it is a memorial for my mom who passed away in December. It should be quite an experience. :rolleyes2:

VegasGrace 1 Posted March 4, 2008 Good for you! When I decided on the Lapband, I took a week or two to interview surgeons. Once I decided on that...my surgery was in a few weeks, too. Could have been sooner but I had to make arrangements for my three children (am single parent) Congrats!
nurse7263 0 Posted March 4, 2008 Congrats! I did the same thing - I recently decided to look into it, now I've got my funding, my pre-op date, and my surgery date. My boyfriend and I are going to book our hotel and flight tonight (Going to Denver to Dr. Kirshenbaum's office!). It's happening to quickly...I can't believe it! I can't wait! My BMI is 41, and I'm ready to really work. Good luck!
