Please helpp -Bandster Vet with New Port Pain While Exercising

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone! I am a 2 year bandster and have had a pretty good experience so far. I've been noticing a real achy pain in my port area when I'm exercising -- running/elliptical, etc. I've been doing more sit ups lately so maybe that's aggravating it? I've been blessed enough to have very few problems with my band, but now I'm getting a little nervous about the pain and the WORST part is that it makes me not want to exercise!!

There is no pain at all when I'm resting or doing daily activities. THis is really just while exercising. That said, this is a NEW thing. I used to do a ton of situps with no problems and I've been jogging for a while.

So... long story short:

1. Has anyone else here gone through this? I really appreciate hearing about it because just knowing that this

isn't completely abnormal is pretty helpful. I am sure that I should probably go see my doc right? I haven't seen him in a year! Unbelievable how time flies.

2. Could this have something to do with either building abdominal muscles or maybe with getting a little skinnier (thank god!). I have probably lost about 40 pounds in 2 years. Need to lose another 20 or so.

I think it's the ab exercises.

Try changing up what you are doing in that area and check for different sensations.

And if all else fails go and see your doc. Shouldn't you be getting your blood work done or something anyway?

I noticed you said you "used" to do ab exercises. I think your stomach muscles are just weak. You are trying to do what you used to and you need to build up the muscles first. I have port pain when I exercise as well, but as I get stronger, the pain is less intense.

If it hurts, don't do it.

I don't exercise...but can tell you from time to time I hurt in my side...feels like I ran 10 miles...you know that side pain/cramp....but it goes away after awhile.

Keep up the good work!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
