I don't have pain where you describe yours but I have noticed if I do too much or get too tired I have a pain between my shoulder blades. I never had that before my band.

I have back pain, too. It is weird. It comes and goes but I am not sure what it means. I was just banded last Friday (4 days ago) so I was thinking gas. I am hoping is subsides. Good luck to you !!!

I've lost about 38 pounds and a lot on my tummy. I noticed that I stand up straighter and don't have my belly pulling my back into a bowed position. I think the shifting of my weight and my skeleton rearranging itself it causing the back to hurt. It's just an adjustment to the changes. Kind of like progressing through pregnancy in reverse!! LOL

Yes! I'm also 4 weeks out and having the same weird back pain! I'm looking forward to discussing with my surgeon later this week. I've read on a few threads the idea that this is related to the positioning and tugging during surgery. I've also heard the weight re-distribution theory. Either way, I'm thinking a visit to a chiropractor with a nice follow up visit to a massage therapist will be just the thing!

I'm trying to hold off until I've lost 50 lbs and then do the hour long massage as a reward!

Yes! I have the exact same pain in the exact same spot as yours. I am going in for my 2 week post op on Wednesday and will be asking my doctor about it. I'll be sure to let you know what he says. On top of that, I'm sore on the outside from rubbing it all day long!

I've just had surgery 4 days ago, and I already feel the back pain, and the pain right under the left breast. I have been using a heating pad like its my best friend. But I am also wondering about the gas aspect too, as I am taking GASX and I seem to be able to release the gas, but so far I haven't been able to go to the bathroom. When will that happen? I was wondering if some of the pain is now having to do with that to.

I too had severe back/side pain during the first week post op. I had my 6 week f/u, 1st fill this past Friday Feb 13 and the back pain came back last night (Tues) where i thought i had to go to the ER. After the heating pad not working, it never did in the beginning either, i got down 2 advil and put on an ice pack. The ice seemed to do the trick...enough for me to sleep 1 hr. It's better but still there. It's really annoying and i'm thinking maybe i ate something wrong to cause this. Anyone else have this happen? It's funny that i don't even have any pain where i thought i should...on my front side! :blushing:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
