I know this sounds silly, but I'm going to my informational seminar tomorrow. I went to one last May, but it's been over 6 months so I have to go again... Anyway, for the last week I've been wanting to just eat and eat and eat. I'm not usually an eater like that. Do you think I'm doing this b/c I know once I go tomorrow, I'm going to start the process to lose the weight and won't be able to just eat and eat and eat again? Sound crazy?

You could be starting what they call here on the forum " The Last Supper" syndrome. We worry before surgery that we won't ever be able to enjoy our old favorite foods. That thought, combined with stress of thinking of surgery, can alter our thinking about food and many here have posted about stuffing themselves with food before being banded.

We tend to think if we found the answer to our weight issues with the band, then why not have a last fling with food before the surgery.

Believe me, you will enjoy food again but not in the portions you did before. You might find you enjoy food more. You will eat slower, eat things that are better for your health, look and feel better becasue of what you are eating. The band changes your thought process about food.

I did not have the last supper syndrome. I was focused on changing my old habits and didn't want even more weight to lose after the surgery.

I think what you've experienced is completely normal.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
