Hi, I'm Tarasa and I am new to the forums. I'm a 23 year old graduate student from Beavercreek, OH and I was banded on Tuesday, Feb 26, 2008 by Dr. Curry. I am doing well and have lost 12 before the procedure and have 78 pounds to go!

Conratulations for making the decision to change your life. I was banded on 1-7=08 and have lost 30 lbs. I am going for my first fill end of the week. The liquid stage is tough but hang in there. Concentrate on the positive changes you can make by adding exercise each day. It is like a self-fulfilling prophecy... the more you lose the more things you want to do to continue to lose. It is a win win situation. Welcome.

Hello Tarasa...I haven't been banded yet...in fact haven't even had a consultation with my doctor yet. But wanted you to know that I live close by you in Northwest Ohio...close to the Ind/Ohio line. Where did you get your banding done? I am closer to the Ft. Wayne hospitals, and will try to have Dr. Sloan do it at Lutheran hospital in Ft. Wayne, In. I've been reading soooo much info on these boards to get me familiar with the procedure and what to expect before and after the banding. Good luck to you...and hope you become a "big loser" like I wish to become soon.

Susie

I was banded by Dr. Trace Curry in Cincinnati, OH at Jewish Hospital. People come from all over the world to be banded by him and he does more bands in a year then anyone else in Ohio. I think he is just awesome and his staff is incredible!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
