Port Area Pain

Recommended Posts

Is anyone still getting soreness and pain in their port incision area? I am, its not terrible but sometimes is very uncomfortable. Tends to get worse when I lean over for a time or exercise a lot. Just wondering if this is normal or if I should call my doc.

Hi, I was banded Jan 22, and yes, I still have some port soreness. I wouldn't call it a sharp pain, just still can feel soreness, especially when leaning forward. I'm sure this will go away with time. Good luck!

I was banded on January 18th, and my doctor places the port on the left shoulder area. It's actually above the left breast. I sometimes still feel sensativity/achiness when I sleep in certain positions. It sometimes ache in the area if I wear a bra with underwire.

Other times, most times, I hardly notice it's there. I don't know where you're port is placed, but I think it just takes time to completely heal and build scar tissue around it.

I went for my 6 week check up and my doctor wouldn't give my my first fill because my port site is still swollen. He said that I had to wait another 8 weeks YIKES:scared2:

Sometime I still get a little sore...kind of like a "stitch" in my side. It is happening less and less frequently. I was banded 1/10, and last time it happened was 5 days ago. I took some Alleve and it went away.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
