Hello from LI! Banded 02/27/08

Recommended Posts

Hi from Long Island, NY. I was banded 02/27/08 at Peconic Bay Medical center in Riverhead, NY by Dr Mehta.

I am recovering well and I even plan to go back to work tomorrow. I am not hungry so the full liquid diet is not bothering me at all. I am actually more worried about eating enough food because I have no appetite.

My surgery went well but I did not a bad reaction to the pain med and got sick 3 times the first night and once more before I went home on the 28th. But since I have been home I have kept everything down. I also had alot of back pain but that is gone now. I did some working this morning and it was a little uncomfortable after awhile but it was not painful.

I am excited about the changes to come and can't wait to start seeing the results!

The only tip I can think of is to remember that each day is going to get easier following the surgergy.

I went back to work today and I was tired at the end of the day but otherwise feeling fine. My appetite is improved greatly today so I think the ability to get back into my "routine" is actually helping! Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
