Would you band twice?

Recommended Posts

I am trying to decide if I want my band removed or have a new one put in. My band has been slipped for a year. I have acid reflux again, which probably means it has slipped more. Over the last year I have gained 20 lbs. back. I don't know what I want to do...I am afraid if I get a new one same thing will happen again. I am completely depressed over the entire situation. Does anybody know if it is a higher risk of slippage for second banding? My husband does not want me to have another one.. actually most people in my family does not. They have seen what I have gone through. I am about 50lbs overweight. My husband likes chunky women...I ask him whats wrong with him. If I really buckle down I could lose the weight..

You know its a constant struggle all the time. I tired of it. I feel like giving up. The other part of me is like I can do it myself...spring is coming and I will be taking long walks with my husband. All I need is to kick myself in the butt....Ive done it before.

Would like to hear from people who are and have been in my situation. Oh I have kept 55lbs off. The gaining of 20lbs was my fault...I felt really sick and extremely tired from losing 75lbs in 5 months. I feel much better.

I keep going back and forth... please I like some input.

This is something you should talk over with your doctor. Would you get the exact same band? Or would there be some difference that might make your experience with a new one less complicated?

I DID band twice, and am very happily living with my second band. It's a very different model than the one I had the first time, and so far all has been wonderful. (Though I'm not losing weight, I know this is not the band's fault.) To me this is all a journey; being banded once was never going to fix my obesity problem forever. There's way too many other variables at play. All I know is that I have NO chance at managing my obesity without a little silicone friend.

Thank you for your input...I am concerned about scar tissue, I hope that nothing is messed up since it has been slipped for a year.

My band slipped a few weeks ago due to a stomach virus and my ignorance of not getting unfilled. I am getting my band removed and replaced this Thursday. So, yeah...I am getting another. I believe the band is an incredible TOOL for weight loss. I am 3 years out from my original surgery. I have not reached my goal as I expected in this amount of time but it is still the best thing I have ever done for myself. I have been unfilled for a week and have had uncontrollable urges to eat like my prebanded years. I can not go back to that or I will be back to square one...and that isnt going to happen.

You have to weigh the pros and cons and do what you feel is best for YOU. The new bands are supposed to be a lot better. My doc says they are supposed to be better against slipping and such. Talk to your doctor and discuss your fears.

I told myself that if I fail with the 2nd band that I will consider a mini gastric bypass. I pray that will never have to be an option.

Good luck to you and please keep us updated.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
