I am also having the insane itching... I used hydrocortisone cream because I actually had a rash and SEVERE red Patches where the bandages were. I went to my doctor and he had to prescribe me with an extra cream to "speed up" the reaction. Good luck.. the hydrocortisone cream can be found at any store and also I use a cool wash cloth. It really helps stop the "itchies". You can try Neosporin on the incisions, it will help keep the incision from being so dry...but check with your surgeon first. Good luck!!

Thank you to everyone for you tips! Yesterday I went to see my surgeon, I called their office and they told me to be there ASAP as it did not sound good. By the time I had gotten to his office, most of the itchiness had passed but the redness and puffiness was extreme (and at every incision), apparently I had a severe allergic reaction to the steri-strips. He told me to take claritin during the day and a double dose of benedryl at night. I was also told to stop using the benedryl cream because it was making it worse. The redness and puffiness is about half gone now. I now have healing itch (which I have to say isn't as bad as the allergy itch). Good Luck Everyone!!!

My regular doc gave me this foam for the itching it was called Olux-E. It worked unbelieveably fast and well. It was a life saver.

Mine were super itchy too. I took Benadryl liquid (oral). It made a huge difference and I didn't have to rub anything on my incisions. Good luck!

I itched for a long time. I want to say until about the 3rd month. But the NP said everything looked fine - nothing to worry about. Just one of those things, I guess.

I agree with everyone... I am only five days out and am itching, but in the past I have always found that to be a good but annoying sign. I am using the aveeno very little and that seems to help. Just think in the long run it will look better and be all so worth it!:biggrin2:

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
