Hi all, was banded on April 7th, was wondering what people were seeing as an average per week weight loss now that we have all been at this for a while. Thanks,

James - I could go back and calculate, but I haven't lost every week. I had two months where I'd lose .5 and gain 1.2 then lose 2 and gain .7....It was the same five pounds forever. I lost a lot off the bat and after that it was pretty slow.

I have lost inches continulously. I measure myself on the 10th of every month (my monthly bandiversary).

Last week I lost 4 pounds and this week 6 (finally broke that see-saw plateau). I'm down 45 pounds since consult.

Congrats on all the awesome weightloss everyone!!! I too am just 8 pounds from onederland!! I'm also between sizes and it's so frustrating. The pants I wore yesterday made me look like I was wearing a saggy diaper, but the 14's are still too tight. Of course then I have my favorite pair of jeans that are 16's and I still can't get into them. Go figure!!

James - yes, it's going to differ from person to person. I didn't loose much weight over the summer, mostly because I wasn't working at it at all. :crying: However, I have continued to loose inches and that's really the only thing I care about. Of course if I do a quick math assessment, it's been like 20 weeks since surgery, I'm still averaging roughly 2 pounds per week. But realistically, it hasn't been that way at all. I've even had weeks where I gained.

Keep up the great work guys! We are all doing awesome!!! Have a great day!

Thanks! I was shocked when I weighed in. Leslie - the fill nurse - told me to step on and close my eyes (I always tend to make the scale move when I'm supposed to stand still- it usually goes up). I heard the beep on the machine and she asked what I weighed last week - I said 220. She made a little noise - I opened my eyes and asked "What is it?" She said you've lost six pounds. I did a happy dance (idiotically jumping up and down) in the office. I think I may have hugged her too...LOL

I'm a broken machine Carol....LOL....I've been a teeter-totter for six weeks. You've been doing great - consistantly.

Thanks NeNe - you are so close to onderland....I'm knocking on your door too! :-)....I can't believe I'm 12 pounds away from weighing less than 200 pounds.

I just hung up the phone from my mom. She said, "You are going to be smaller than me soon." I said, "Mom, isn't that a good thing." She told me that I don't need to get too small - I won't look healthy. She is a 12/14 (and weights 180). I told her I'd be happy to be a 10/12. She said that a 10 is too small. I'm not sure how to take this. I didn't say I want to be a size 2. Is she being supportive or jealous? Why am I such a pessamist?

NeNe - I'm with you, lets step it up! I think I'm at the same weight as you guys as well. I'm ready to be in onederland too!!

Thanks Leslie! You are right, 6 mos ago I couldn't have done half the stuff I'm doing today! Congrats on 6 pounds! I think sometimes our bodies just go along in the same mode and then one day it's like "Whoa, you're serious, guess I better let go of this weight!!". Keep it up! I'm really proud of you!!!

Leslie,

At your age, a 10 would be fine. At my age, I'm going to be happy with a 12.

Bea,

Thanks for the words of encouragement. Let's Get Busy!!!!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
