Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

Recommended Posts

Count me in! I used to be so good about writing down everything but then I got to my sweet spot and didn't find it necessary. But now with no restriction, I am falling of the wagon big time and need someone to keep me honest!!! I am starting over too. I hope the new fill next week will give me some feeling of restriction to make a difference. I really do miss it!

Ya'll - I am right there with you. I'm really struggling right now. I've buckled back down - but I have been around 220 for over three months now. It is the same freakin 5-6 pounds I lose and gain over and over again. I'd gotten down to 214 - then gained 8 pounds in a little over a week. Our six month bandiversary is this month. I was really hoping to be down more than 40 something pounds...I know we have all had setbacks, but I am discouraged as well.

So what am I doing to get myself out of this? What are we all going to do? I'm trying to start over. Protein first, Water & Exercise...I've been really good the last two weeks. I hope to see some results soon. It seems I lose and do good for a couple of weeks then get a setback (port flipped, medical issues, or I just plain screw up). Why can't I stay consistant - consistantly????

I totally get you. I've had my share of setbacks too that are starting to take their toll on my brain. I don't want it to get the best of me, but it sure gets hard sometimes.

I HATE journaling. I keep trying, but I just don't like it. Maybe I'd like it better if I did it here. I just hate the whole looking it up, figuring out the amount, then starting all over for each food. I'm too impatient. Maybe just writing down WHAT I ate instead of all the fluff would be better for me.

If it makes you feel any better, I can't stay consistant either. There is obviously something wrong in my program, but I can't pinpoint it.

Maybe we should start a Struggling Avengers Thread? Write down at the end of the day what we have had to eat, our exercise that day and how we feel that day - like a "journal" of sorts...maybe ya'll can help me figure out what I may be doing and change something that could help me and vice-versa??? what do you think?

Okay, okay, you've twisted my arm. I'll do it! I think it's a great idea to continue to support eachother. I heart you Leslie.

Okay, if you're doing it, then I'm definitely doing it too!! LOL Maybe you can give us some pointers about journaling.

Disclaimer: I feel that I must say that I am NOT complaining about losing 50 pounds and I really don't want it to come across that way. I am very grateful for my success thus far. I just know I can do better and want to do better. I know you guys understand this, but I'd hate to discourage a newbie by all this whining I'm doing!;)

...I'm a multiquoting fool!!:cool2:

Hey all. Just thought I would check in... I have been off and on for a few days now since I was so busy with work. Anyway, the scale has not moved up or down that is good news. Would be even better if it had moved down but atleast its not going up since it's almost TOM.

I found this recipe today and it sounds so good! I think I will make it later. I am sure I will cut it into a smaller portion 8 pieces is way too much.

Chicken Pesto Recipe | Recipezaar

Pretty high in Protein and would make some good left overs.

Hey guys! I spoke with my phys ed instructor today and told her I needed help getting over my plateau. She was a sports trainer in her previous life, so I'm sure she's got some good info. She told me she has tons of ways to do it, so I'm all ears! I'm going to e-mail her details about my diet, exercise, and weight loss thus far. She's going to think about it over the weekend and get back to me next week. I'll let you guys know what she tells me since it really sounds like we are all in the same boat.

Oh Bea, hun, I know how you feel! I'm not going to give you the muscle weighs more than fat speech - I hate that one. Hang in there - it'll turn around for you. You are working so hard!

Two weeks ago at weigh in I gained 8 POUNDS...8! I flipped out...you'll turn it around...could be Water weight too. Your body is probably adjusting. I know that doesn't make you feel better - well, knowing your lb buddy gained 8 should make you feel better - 1.5 is nothing compared to that! I'm back where I should be though - took two weeks to get caught back up. I match my siggie now....LOL

Lots and lots of hugs being sent your way!

I go up and down constantly .... seriously haha. This is my last few weeks 218, 215, 219, 215

Theres way too many things that come into play with weight. I just leave my weight at 215 on my ticker and then if during a weigh in it goes lower I use that weight hehe. That might be cheating but thats what I do.

My weight has been super weird. I will lose for like a month then stop for 2 or 3 weeks then lose for a month. It's frustrating at times. But then those NSV's make you think... Ok so it's not all about the numbers. Because while my scale wasn't moving I went down to a size 14 so I was super happy.

I cleaned out the whole closet of anything size 16 and up and now only own a few pairs of pants lol. I don't care cause they are all 14's and I wont EVER own 16 again. Makes me feel good.

I'm in 16's now...I'm drooling over 14's. I do have one pair of capri 14 & some 12/14 workout pants that fit...no jeans though. I need to go jacket shopping. I think I'm going to look at lunch today - the one I have from last year is a fleece 3x...it won't work unless I want to hide!

Getting new clothes is awesome! I had a yard sale last Sat. and sold almost all my clothes! The women were so excited to find their size at a yard sale. Now I only own three pairs of jeans and 1 pair of pants that really fit. I hung to ca couple 16's that I have to tighten with a belt. But I have refused to buy any more until I have firmly hit that 12/14 mark...not having many choices makes me work harder to get to them.

Bea - Hugs, Hugs and more Hugs! I'm with ya sister. I have gained too but hang in there. Things will turn around and you'll be losing again in no time. Don't get discouraged (as I preach this also to myself:)

Thats hillarious (About the jacket) I didn't think far enough in advance for a new jacket. I had a huge audit this week and had to be outside walking around in warehouses and stuff... Well it was jacket weather so I put mine on and realized it was a 2 x that barely zipped last year.... Now I had to roll up the sleeves and I was swimming in it. I could of put a belt on and passed for a dress! Although I loved putting it on and seeing the huge loss I don't like having to go buy another one haha.

Leslie I bet you'll find a super cute one. Treat yourself

Oohhh I found a super cute brown courteroy (I don't know how to spell that - lol) with a hood at Kohls. If any of you need jackets they have theirs on sale - a lot of cute ones too.

It is figure flattering, covers the apron, but hugs in all the right places....now the best part - was $80.00 now $34.99 - Tada! I also found a cute top and a necklass/braclet match that was 90% off - I paid $3.00 for both combined! Oh I love a good deal...

Brandy - girl you know you are going to need a new one...just think by end of season it'll be too big - I can't wait for this one to swim. It's a L...woot!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
